Abernethy's first fundraiser is right around the corner!!! We want to be open and honest about what fundraising looks like at Abernethy, so here's the nitty gritty of all things Fundraising at our school:
🎯 Why We Fundraise:
The Abernethy PTA fundraises to cover the programs, staff support, community events, equity funding and enrichment that the district budget doesn't fund. (supportabernethy.org/give-volunteer)
Every dollar raised supports our school and our kids:
- Academic programing such as:
- Eagle Reading Club — an in-house literacy program for struggling readers
Mystery Science — programming and supplies - Classroom & arts support — teacher supply funds, classroom libraries, and artist-in-residence programming
- Mini-Grants — Projects proposed by teachers, students, staff, or the community
- Grounds & garden care - Beautifying our shared space with gardening programs
- Teacher appreciation and family hardship assistance
- Active transportation and Eagle Track Club
The full budget is visible here.

Key categories of expenses for which the PTA has budgeted to spend these fundraising dollars:
- $200,000 — playground & grounds improvement (the year's headline project and opportunity to utilize some built up reserves)
- $26,100 — Eagle Reading Club, up from $22,200
- $20,000 — garden programming, plus
- $15,000 — arts & music
- $10,000 — completing the Centennial Mural
- $7,000 — Student Aid Fund, up from $5,000
- $6,000 — After School Programs, up from $4,000
- $5,500 — Mini-Grants, up from $5,000
None of this happens without parent power. Whether you've got an hour to volunteer at an event or a connection to a company with a matching program, your help moves the needle.
