As the mornings turn chilly and the afternoons retain some heat, the lost and found is brimming with cozy layers and coats. There's also an impressive selection of lunch and snack containers, and some excellent water bottles. Don't you miss these items? Here are some tips to help reunite you with your belongings in the Abernethy Lost & Found:

Location: the lost & found is in the cafeteria, on the side of the school that faces the playground and covered area. These doors are open during drop off time; if you are at school, please feel free to step inside and find the lost & found on your right. 

Names on items: Helpful people in our school community often look for names written in clothes and on other left-behind gear. Writing your child's name, or part of it, increases the chances that someone will make an effort to return it to their classroom or locker!

Timeline: Items that remain in the lost & found on the last day of school before winter break and summer break will be donated to the PPS Clothing Closet. I'll remind you! 

The lost & found will occasionally be brought outside to facilitate easier access for parents and caregivers to find their child's belongings - we're hoping to do this on some upcoming Wednesday mornings (especially dry mornings), and special events such as Field Day! Keep an eye out! 

We recognize that many children take the bus and it can be hard for parents to be at school during the times mentioned above. Please know that you can check in at the school office any time it's open and let them know you'd like to check the lost & found. Parent-teacher conferences are also a good time to plan to check the lost & found (again, I'll remind you).
