The Abernethy PTA runs four major fundraisers during the year.
The Annual Appeal chairs are required to:
Prepare materials to be sent home with each child, update Support Abernethy and Konstella websites, and communicate with the community in advance.
Assemble a volunteer team to execute the event or activity.
Report to the board on progress and donation amounts.
THIS IS GOOD FOR… A person or people who want to make a significant impact on the financial viability of Abernethy’s programs. While each fundraiser can be time-intensive, it is only for a concentrated period of time. Except for the day of the event, most of these can be managed remotely.
Note: The four fundraising chairs share one vote

Basketball Signed Up: 1 / 1Term 1 or 2 years:
Assist with the Basketball Chair and the Treasurer in implementing a new registration system for Abernethy’s K-5 basketball program.
Work with Basketball Committee to communicate via Konstella website, Abernethy Announcements, etc.to the larger community regarding important updates throughout the season
THIS IS GOOD FOR...someone who loves basketball but cannot be at school a lot. This role is mainly administrative, working alongside other basketball committee members. Can be done entirely remotely.
Community Meeting Presentations:
The Basketball committee is not expected to present at any community meetings.

Carnival Signed Up: 3 / 3Term: 2+ years
The Abernethy PTA celebrates the end of the school year with a Carnival. The kids look forward to this event all year!
Event date is historically the second or third week of May and involves the entire school community!
We’re seeking a co-chair for the 2022 Carnival - a new co-chair will take the reins from there.
Coordinate and oversee committee of approximately 6-8 volunteers.
Direct responsibilities include coordinating with PPS, Abernethy staff, outside vendors (including food), ticket sales, communicating with the Abernethy community and setup and breakdown of the event.
THIS IS GOOD FOR… A person or people who value community connection through FUN activities for children. Enjoys planning large events and is able to delegate and communicate to a variety of committee members. Need a flexible schedule day of the event.
Community Meeting Expectations: The Co-Chairs are expected to present updates to the community when necessary.

Fun(d) Run Signed Up: 1 / 1Term: 1 year
The Abernethy PTA runs four major fundraisers during the year. The fourth is Fun(d) Run. This event is usually chaired by two people with one person in training.
The Fun(d) Run chair is required to:
Prepare materials to be sent home with each child, update Support Abernethy and Konstella websites, and communicate with the community in advance.
Assemble a volunteer team to execute the event or activity.
Report to the board on progress and donation amounts.
THIS IS GOOD FOR… A person or people who want to make a significant impact on the financial viability of Abernethy’s programs. While the Fun(d) Run can be time-intensive, it is only for a concentrated period of time. Except for the day of the event, most of these can be managed remotely.

Mini Grants Signed Up: 3 / 3Term 1 or 2 years
Promotes the mini-grant program, encouraging people to apply!
Works with school and PTA leadership and volunteers to review applications
Works with IT person and Communications to distribute the application and process to our community
Tracks applications as received and communicates with applicants throughout process
Commitment starts in September and ends when grant recipients are notified (Application deadline is the first Tuesday in November. Applicants are notified by November 30.)
THIS IS GOOD FOR…someone who is organized and good at tracking details. Usually requires limited time in the fall (~1 hr/week) except for the week that applications are due and reviewed. Can be done mostly off campus, and is wrapped up by January!
Community Meeting Presentations:
The Mini Grant Coordinator is expected to attend all community meetings and present at the September community meeting to announce the start of the mini grants campaign and the November community meeting to give an update on the year’s recipients.

New Family Connections Signed Up: 1 / 1Term: 1 year
Communicates with incoming families to help orient them to Abernethy.
Coordinates and plans events throughout the summer to welcome new families to Abernethy, including summer playground meet ups for new and incoming kinder families and a popsicle social the first week of school.
Joins school staff at Connect to Kindergarten to help plan and staff the event and welcome families. (Connect to Kindergarten happens in February)
THIS IS GOOD FOR...A person who can remember what it’s like to be a new parent or student and wants to make people feel connected to our school community.
Community Meeting Expectations:
The New Family Connections is expected to attend most community meetings and present updates to the community when necessary.

Coordinate appreciation breakfast, lunch and other events to show our teachers and staff how much we value their work.
Send communications to school about events and Teacher Appreciation Week.
THIS IS GOOD FOR… A person or people who like to work with multiple people in our school community to make things happen!
