Dear Adams Elementary, 
Thank you to everyone who has already joined with us in contacting the school district and superintendent. When speaking with our district representative, Tim Moynihan, we decided it would be best if Principal Jones did not attend the Multicultural Potluck/Bingo night on Thursday, April 9. We are committed to this event being focused on family fun and community healing. 

In light of the district's email on Monday, April 6th regarding the replacement principal for Mr. Sohn, the PTA Executive Team spoke to Tim Moynihan, the Regional Executive Director for SPS, to address our concerns. We know emotions are high. The PTA has drafted a statement we are sending to the school district and to Superintendent Shuldiner (below). 

Together, our voices are strong. We encourage all families and caregivers to email and call the district directly to express any and all concerns. If necessary, go ahead and use part or all of our statement below, or use your own words. 

Dear Superintendent Shuldiner,

We are writing on behalf of the Adams Elementary School community in regards to the assignment of a new principal. 

We are a close-knit community, and believe strongly that our children deserve a school leader who will not only foster, but also enhance the special culture of our small school. The families of our school deserve a say in who will be our principal. As such, we request the superintendent, with the support of the school board and district leaders, to formally post this position and consider multiple candidates. All applicants are welcome, including the district’s current appointment.  

Our principal is committed to finishing out the year. There is no rush to fill the position. The PTA is advocating for due diligence to be done in selecting the best principal for our kids. Without community support, it will be difficult for anyone to be successful.
