Welcome Coffee

Please join us tomorrow, Wednesday, May 20th right after drop off, for a Welcome Coffee Time with our new principal, Anitra Jones. The PTA will provide coffee and pastries as we gather to start this partnership at Adams Elementary.

  • When: Wednesday, May 20th @ 7:55 AM
  • Where: Adams Playground
  • Who: Principal Jones and Adams Parents

If you aren’t able to join on Wednesday, Ms. Jones will be at our upcoming PTA General Meeting on May 26th from 6-8 PM. We hope that getting started on the right foot in the spirit of optimism and mutual collaboration is the best approach for our kids and teachers.

Collaborative & Proactive Solutions Conversation

Thank you to everyone who attended last week’s Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) conversation, led by Dr. Ross Greene. Adams Elementary teachers and parents were well-represented. Additionally, Principal Jones and four School Board Directors attended! We are building momentum for changes that will improve all kids’ lives in schools.

Missed the conversation? You can view it for free online here.

Join us for a deeper dive into CPS in SPS on June 2, 6-7:30 pm. This free online event will delve into what CPS actually looks like in real classrooms and what it would take to implement CPS in Seattle Public Schools. This session is for anyone who cares about kids in our schools: parents and caregivers, educators and school leaders, SPS District staff, and more. Register here!

CPS -- a trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, and state-endorsed approach -- can support students with academic or behavioral challenges and provide their educators and families with practical strategies for success. When our students with academic or behavioral challenges are well-supported, our entire school culture and classroom environments -- ALL students -- benefit!

Book Bounce

Book Bounce is coming up soon, on May 29 during students’ recesses. Families donate books they are finished with, then students get to bring home several new-to-them books to enjoy for free!

Highly sought-after books include graphic novels of all sorts, Dav Pilkey series, books about popular franchises (LEGO, Harry Potter, Pokemon, Minecraft, Star Wars, etc.), and Weird But True series books.

We also welcome donations of cloth bags/reusable bags to help send home books from the Book Bounce! (No board books or holiday book donations, please.)

A donation box has been set up in the front office. Consider donating today!
