Weekly Newsletter October 5-9
Sun, Oct 4 4:46pm

Hello Adams Families,

We're back with this week's edition of Eagle News! Big thanks for all your support with the launch of the Big Give, and for a great turnout at our first General Meeting and Coffee & Community of the year!

We're looking forward to connecting with you at the PTA Board Meeting on Tuesday and Curriculum Night on Thursday! We'd also love your help staffing the Big Give Table on the playground in the mornings—please reach out if you'd like to hang out with us there!

Of note: this is the last week to order fall Spirit Wear, registration for Parents' Night Out is open, and there is no school on Friday.

And one more way to stay connected: we've created a new email address where families can share what's on their minds—questions, ideas, things that are going well, or topics you'd like the PTA to be aware of and bring into our conversations with school leadership. We'd love to hear from you at Feedback@adamselementary.org!

Sincerely,
The Adams PTA

Email Us!

Have a question or something on your mind?

We’ve created a new email address, Feedback@AdamsElementary.org, where families can share questions, ideas, feedback, or topics you’d like the PTA to be aware of.

We’ll use what we hear to better understand what’s on the minds of Adams families, identify broader community themes, and help inform our ongoing conversations with school leadership.

What are you wondering about? What’s working well? What could be better? What would you like us to be talking about?

We’d love to hear from you!

Fall Fest

Please join us for Fall Fest on Friday, October 23, from 6–8pm!

Join the fall fun with games, crafts, a bake sale, face painting, cookie decorating, and pizza slices.

Adult supervision is required — please stay with your student!

The Big Give Is Off to a BIG Start!

Drumroll please... so far we have raised $9,492.47!

11.7% of forms have been returned, and Ms. Woodside’s class is currently taking the lead with the most responses!

The Big Give is our biggest fundraiser of the year and launched on October 1. Together, we’re hoping to raise $100,000 from our Adams community, with an additional $50,000 through corporate matching, bringing us to our $150,000 goal.

Thank you for all of your participation, excitement, and support—and for saying hi at the table on the playground in the mornings!

Please remember to return your child’s Big Give form at the playground on any weekday morning in October. When you do, your child can choose a prize and be entered to win a larger prize from one of our community partners.

Next week’s prize donations include:

  • Sweet Mickey’s — $25 gift card
  • Secret Garden Books — $25 gift card
  • Sunny Hill — Pizza party gift card
  • Majestic Bay — 4 movie tickets

We’d love your company at the table! Email execteam@adamselementary.org if you’d like to choose a morning to help collect Big Give forms. It takes a team!

Eagle Eyes on Ms. Cook!

This is Ms. Cook’s first year at Adams and her 11th year of teaching. Her favorite thing about Adams is her students—their joyfulness and love of learning make each school day so fun! She has also been immensely grateful for the Adams community and for every staff and family member who has so warmly welcomed her.

Ms. Cook grew up in Tacoma and has lived in Boston, London, and Moscow, but she always finds herself drawn back home to Seattle. Some fun Ms. Cook facts: she has encountered polar bears in the wild, once saw the northern lights from a plane window, and has a baseball superpower! The Red Sox always won when she attended games in Boston, and since moving home, the Mariners almost always win. Between the two teams, her record is 12–1!

Favorite book: Jane Eyre
Favorite movie: The Man from Snowy River
Favorite song: “Time in a Bottle” by Jim Croce

We’re so glad to have you in our community, Ms. Cook!
