COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: PTA GENERAL MEETING
Please join us for our upcoming Fall PTA General Meeting tonight from 6–8pm! This is a fun and informative event, starting with a Domino’s Pizza dinner in the cafeteria at 6pm, followed by our meeting in the library from 6:30–8pm.
Kids are welcome and will stay in the cafeteria while we meet. Childcare will be provided by middle school students who are Adams alumni!
During the meeting, we’ll cover topics such as the Big Give and what PTA funds provide, our new reading curriculum, state testing dates and results, and our upcoming calendar of events. We’ll have time for questions, too, with both the PTA and Principal Jones.
THE BIG GIVE
The Big Give, running October 1–31, is our biggest fundraiser of the school year, helping the PTA provide many of the programs, staffing, and resources that make Adams such a special community.
Our goal this year is to raise $100,000 total from families and matching, and we’re asking families who are able to contribute $700 per child to help us get there. Corporate matching is an incredible opportunity—please speak with your employer!
Your tax-deductible Big Give contribution funds Adams staff, classroom and teacher support, and school events that benefit students and teachers and strengthen the school community.
Our largest expense is supplemental staffing to supervise the playground, recess, and lunch and provide additional tutoring support to students during the school day. We also provide classroom and teacher support, including library books, arts programs, staff appreciation, and a discretionary budget for each classroom. We support school events including Field Day, 5th Grade Camp, and family events throughout the year. The remaining funds cover PTA operating costs, including parent communications, professional services, and insurance.
We appreciate every gift. Thank you!
FALL FEST
Please join us for Fall Fest on Friday, October 23, from 6–8pm!
Adult supervision is required; please stay with your student.
Activities include games, crafts, a bake sale, face painting, cookie decorating, and pizza slices.

EAGLE EYES ON THEODORA (THEO)!
We’re excited to introduce Theodora (Theo), a very special member of the Adams community! This year Theo is a fourth grader in Ms. Woodside’s classroom.
Theo loves what makes Adams unique, especially the kindness she sees throughout our school. She says that everyone at Adams knows each other and is kind to one another, even if not everyone is friends yet, and she appreciates that Adams encourages everyone to respect each other’s ideas. She also loves that Adams has three mascots—Guacy, Avocado, and Chaz!
Her favorite subjects are science, where she gets to work on cool projects like the 4th Grade motor project, and PE, because she loves moving around and playing games—“it’s fun even if you’re not great at it!”
Outside of school, Theo loves to play, make art, and spend time with her little brother, who just started kindergarten this year. She’s also passionate about nature and animals and has a particular fascination with jungles because they’re full of mystery and amazing wildlife. She’d love to travel to South America!
This summer, she took a road trip to Yellowstone, where she saw marmots, bison, a baby black bear, lots of elk, and pronghorns. Her favorite animal is a deer, her favorite movie is Bambi, and she loves The Amazing Animal Adventures, an around-the-world animal spotting book. She’s also been practicing hockey with her girls’ hockey team—and this Halloween, she’s going to be a wolf!
We’re so lucky to know you, Theo!
AFTERSCHOOL IS SO COOL!
Classes begin this week on Wednesday, September 30!
PTA funds are assisting with scholarships to make programs more accessible. We have $4,500 budgeted per year for this need—$1,500 for each of the three Afterschool seasons.
BECOME AN APPROVED VOLUNTEER
From Ms. Patti: The district has created a new, simplified system for approving volunteers! The “invite form” has been phased out and the volunteer application is publicly accessible again. After confirming a volunteer role with your child’s classroom teacher, you may complete the volunteer application. Be sure to enter the staff member’s name that you’ll be supporting.
