NEW! Principal’s Message
Dear Addison Families,
I hope everyone had a wonderful President’s Day Weekend! I heard about some great adventures from our students while others appreciated the time to rest and relax. We have two other PAUSD school holidays coming up in March. Please mark your calendars as there will be no school on Friday, March 6 and Monday, March 9.
This past Friday, I met many new Addison families at the 2020-21 Kindergarten Tours. They had lots of great questions and are eager to join our community. We are almost fully enrolled at capacity for Kindergarten next year so if you have a sibling entering Kindergarten and have not yet enrolled, please do so right away. Thanks to Patricia Ohanian, Lauren Williams, Adrienne Germain, and Sarah Gibbs for assisting me with the tours.
I have been spending a lot of time with the various groups managing our construction project to ensure we stay on track. We are looking at month-by-month timelines to make sure key aspects of the project are completed before next school year. This includes the Kindergarten playground, the extended primary playground (where the trailer now sits), the MP Room, the four new classrooms, the courtyard and the outdoor landscaping and playground. Our next milestone will be opening the MP Room in time for our Heritage Night on May 15!
This upcoming Wednesday, our school Psychologist, Rita Rodriguez, and 1st grade Teacher, Monika Hastings, are being recognized at the Sweetheart Awards hosted by CAC (Community Advisory Committee for Special Education in Palo Alto). They have been nominated for making a positive difference in the lives of children with special needs and learning differences. Finally, I hope you’ll join me on Thursday at 6:30pm at Walter Hays for our Family Science Night!
NEW! Family Science Night - Volunteers Still Needed!
Addison Family Science night is taking place Thurs, Feb 27th from 6:30-8:00pm at the Walter Hays MP Room. We still need many volunteers to make this fun evening a success. If you are coming to the event with your family, please consider filling one of our spots - volunteer here! The Children’s Discovery Museum is bringing interactive exhibits for us to enjoy - Escaping air causes a propeller to spin. A single marble uses momentum to move a mountain of marbles. Straws and paper transform into a launching rocket. Come enjoy a fun night of physics with fellow Addison families! Pizza slices will be available for $2/each until we run out.
