All PAUSD Schools closed March 16 - April 10

NEW! PTA President’s Message
Addison Community -

This week has been filled with much information and change! Thank you for your continued support as our principal, teachers, and staff have been working to keep up with the latest changes from PAUSD and the county.

Per the PAUSD announcement made on Friday, March 13th, all schools are closed starting on Monday, March 16th and will remain closed through April 10. During this time, updated information from PAUSD, Principal Boyce and the PTA will be sent as it becomes available. As a result of shifting to information being shared as it becomes available, the PTA will pause the weekly newsletter.

As a reminder, Chromebooks are available for check out from the front office on Monday, March 16th, from 9am-3pm. If you need a Chromebook but are not able to pick one up on Monday, please email Nancy and the PTA will arrange delivery. Please indicate to Nancy if you need internet access when reserving a device.

The Addison staff will be on campus tomorrow to discuss and plan guided learning opportunities for all students.  Principal Boyce will send out information by end of day Monday, March 16th including plans for teacher outreach to each family to reconnect with students and ensure we all feel supported while Addison is closed.

In health,
Lauren Williams
PTA President

NEW! Project Cornerstone’s March book available online
Since school is currently closed, we encourage you to read/watch the March Cornerstone book at home with your child(ren). Here is a link to an online book reading of our March Cornerstone book, Enemy Pie by Derek Munson. Enemy Pie emphasizes the importance of taking time to learn about people before passing judgment. This book reminds us that caring adults can create opportunities for friendships to bloom, even when misconceptions, prejudice and fear are obstacles. As the most influential and caring adult in your own child’s life, look for opportunities to help guide and promote behaviors promoting acceptance, inclusion and forgiveness. Your actions will help your child learn to use friendship boosters as secret ingredients to form and maintain friendships. These secret ingredients are the friendship boosters that will help your child connect with others, find common ground and build assets!

NEW!  Donate to “Slow Down for Kids” Initiative
The PAUSD Community recently lost a 6th grader in a tragic bicycle accident.  The family has started a “Slow Down for Kids” safety initiative. If you would like to donate to this cause, please do so here

PTA Council seeks Officers and Committee Volunteers
Are you interested in being a part of the PTA council nomination committee?  The charge of the nominating committee is to recognize and recruit the most qualified people for the 2020-21 PTA Council Executive Board and Collaborative Committees.  As we are forming this nom-committee, we are looking for community members who have a passion for improving the educational experience of all students and preferably have experience on their school PTA or site council.  We are currently seeking both nominations and expressions of interest from individuals in the community who would like to learn more about becoming a member of the PTA Council. Talk to us about stepping into a leadership role or how you can participate on a committee. Contact us

NEW! U.S. Census 2020 Coming Soon!!
The census is a once every-decade count of everyone living in the country.  When we know how many people live in our community, we’re better equipped to evaluate services needed, such as clinics, schools and roads.  It also determines how seats in Congress are distributed among the 50 states. Watch your mailboxes in mid-March because the Census Bureau will send every household an invitation to complete a questionnaire about everyone living at your address on April 1st. You can respond online, phone or mail.  Responses are confidential. Help make Palo Alto Count. Details at: About the 2020 Census | Census CA

NEW! The PiE Survey Is Here!
Each spring, we ask for your feedback to guide our decision-making for the next year.  This year's survey is now available - please check your email inbox. It only takes a couple of minutes. We want to hear from you!
