NEW! Principal's Message
Dear Addison Families,
The teachers have been very busy these past few weeks with parent-teacher conferences and writing progress reports. We finished our first trimester this past week and our first trimester progress reports will be available through Infinite Campus next Fri, Nov. 15, at 4pm. I will email the steps to access the progress report online through Konstella at the end of next week as we do not send home paper copies unless requested.
This past week, our new Playworks Coach, Nikki Chiu, worked at Addison and taught several tag games, focusing on two-finger butterfly tagging, Ro Sham Bo during conflicts, and body control. Grades K-3 played sneaky statues, band-aid tag, and sharks and minnows. Grades 4-5 played fruit basket and sharks and minnows deluxe. The Playworks program not only teaches new games but also cooperation, good sportsmanship, inclusiveness, and encouragement. It was fun to see the kids outside with Nikki and the rest of their class building these important life skills. Since all classes participate in Playworks, ask your children about these activities or better yet, play them as a family! Also, the 3rd-5th grade Junior Coaches were trained on Wednesday so we look forward to their continued leadership throughout this school.
We do not have school on Monday as we celebrate Veterans Day. On Tuesday, we have our PTA General and Executive Meeting at 8:20am in the AKC portable. Everyone is welcome to learn about our PTA and all the wonderful programs they provide. One of the enrichment opportunities they support is our grade level field trips. PTA pays for all the Kindergarten-3rd grade field trips so we ask for voluntary donations in 4th and 5th grades in order to pay for overnight field trips for those students. We are currently collecting donations to make these 4th and 5th grade field trips possible this year so if you’re able to donate, please use these grade specific links or contact the front office. 4th grade 5th grade
Finally, I wanted to thank Jill Asher, Jen Matsuzawa and Danielle Pashalidis for inviting our Noon Chorus to the Magical Bridge Playground yesterday for a performance! Jill is one of the co-founders of the playground and Jen and Danielle are the fearless leaders that teach the students each Wednesday at lunch. This was the first school performance held at the Magical Bridge Playground and the students did a great job. Thanks to all the families for your ongoing support.
PiE Rally Days: The Challenge Grant Returns!
|If you have been waiting for the right moment to complete your PiE donation for the year, the time has come! Generous donors have offered up a special Rally Days challenge grant, and will match donations up to $254,000 through Nov. 18. Please support our students by donating to PiE today. If you have already given or pledged, thank you so much. If not, now is a great time. Donate today!|
NEW! Area Rugs Needed for Art Room!
In Jan., Room 17 will become a temporary Art Room. In order to protect the current carpet/flooring for Jan-May, the PTA is looking for donations of "used and in good condition" area rugs. At the end of the school year, these area rugs will be disposed of or returned (if requested) as the classroom will become the music room. If you have area rugs to donate, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
|Photos of the students that were available at the Addison Adult Party & Auction can now be viewed online and are available for download. View the photos here. A special thanks to Addison parent and Palo Alto photographer Ola Hopper for taking the photos, donating her editing services, and covering the cost of printing the images.|
