Dear Addison Families,
Hope you're having a wonderful weekend despite the unexpected weather and blackouts!
Monday, August 17th, is the first day of school. Typically, PTA and I would be hosting a Back to School Coffee event but we are aware that this year, families will need to be available to support their child(ren)'s online learning. Additionally, I mentioned in previous newsletters that I will host a separate Back to School Night meeting so that families can focus on the classroom / grade level presentations on Aug. 18th. So even though I won't "see" you this week, the most important role I serve is to support teachers and families. Therefore, if you run in to technology issues or have any questions as we launch a new year, please email me (email@example.com) so that teachers focus on the amazing work they have planned!
By now, your child(ren)'s teacher has most likely contacted you with the Zoom link needed for Monday at 8:30 AM or the link can be found in your child(ren)'s Schoology course. It would be great if you could practice with your child(ren) how to login to Schoology. I've included some helpful links below for your reference:
Also, as per PAUSD guidelines, attendance will be taken multiple times throughout the day when students are expected to be on Zoom. Please see times below:
Kindergarten: Block 1 @ 8:30am, Block 2 @ 9:40am, Block 3 @ 10:50am
Grades 1-5: Block 1 @ 8:30am, Block 2 @ 9:50am, Block 3 @ 11:50am, Block 4 @ 12:50am
(Attendance will not be taken during Block 5, Office Hours, or Student Independent Work Time)
If your child needs to be absent during any of these blocks due to illness or medical appointment, please call 650-322-5935 or email firstname.lastname@example.org before the block begins.
Finally, as per Addison tradition, there will be balloons at school tomorrow for first day of school pictures! Balloon arches should be delivered around 10am and will be placed next to the Addison sign on the corner of Addison and Middlefield. If you bring your child for photos during the day, please practice social distancing.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and cheers to a fabulous and exciting 2020-21 school year!
