Addison Families -
PAUSD is in the process of developing and approving a plan for reopening in person, now that Santa Clara county has moved from the purple into the red tier in California's four-tiered reopening system. PAUSD school administrators have outlined the following goals and approach, and they are assessing the possibility of an in-person return for Gunn students on January 7, 2021.
You are encouraged to join the Superintendent's Webinar taking place today, 9/21 @5:30PM, and the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, 9/22 @6:30PM, where reopening plans will be discussed. Details for both events are listed below.

- Top priority goals in the reopening process are to:
- Keep our students, staff, and community safe and healthy
- Develop a clear roadmap to return to campus
- Provide high-quality education throughout the year
- Provide an environment for social-emotional connection for students and staff
- The approach (found in the Board Reports for 9/22/20) will be:
- a steady and slow approach toward our path to reopen school campuses
- stay agile and adjust instruction to vastly improve the remote learning experience
- gradually work toward increasing the number of students and staff returning to campus
- Due to the breadth and multiple levels of courses offered at the secondary levels, transitioning mid-stream to a hybrid and distance learning model at the same time, is not feasible in a way that maintains the academic integrity of our program, without significantly limiting course options.
- Maintain a distance learning instructional delivery model at the secondary levels (middle and high school), to be assessed for in-person return on January 7, 2021.
- Authorize allowable student contact and on-site participation for activities consistent with Santa Clara County Public Health Department (SCCPHD) guidelines, regardless of a full in-person return to instruction. There may be opportunities for some cohorts to meet in specific portions of the campus for pre-approved activities. These activities/courses may include, but are not limited to: Music, Visual arts, Athletic conditioning, Journalism, Yearbook, ASB / Activities, Leadership groups.
- The proposed schedule for returning students to campus is as follows:
