Dear Addison Families,
It’s an exciting and busy time at Addison as we continue to make changes to our current instructional programs while simultaneously planning for 2021-22. If you were not able to make the Parent/Principal Coffee on April 1st, you can see the slides here. Our four full-distance learning classes were highlighted in the presentation as they have been doing amazing work this year and have found very creative ways to deliver content remotely, engage students and introduce new online learning experiences. Additionally, I included information forecasting our focus areas in the Spring and what we are anticipating for next year.
Happily, our enrollment remains stable so we are planning for the same number of classes next year. At this time, it is unknown if a remote learning class will be offered so as soon the decision is made, I will update our community. In the meantime, over the next few weeks, the teachers and I are going to work on class building for the fall. We strive to create balanced classes with a range of learners in each group. While we do not accept requests for specific teachers, you are welcome to share with us any information you feel would be helpful in determining your child’s placement. Please do not contact your child’s current teacher regarding special requests as all parent input should be recorded on this form. In order for this information to be considered, you must complete this form by Friday, April 30, 2021, by 4pm.
For the families who selected in-person instruction this year, we have been welcoming students back five days per week. Our 5th grade returned last week, 3rd and 4th grade this week, and Kindergarten and 2nd grade will return on April 26th. It’s been wonderful to see more students on campus and I conveyed the importance of staying vigilant with our health and safety protocols at grade level meetings. The students are excited to interact with their opposite class cohort and they are enjoying building a new classroom community.
Finally, our Addison Equity Team has met six times this year and one of our goals is to hear from our different racial/ethnic groups on campus regarding their experiences at Addison and within our community. We hope to host an online event by the end of this year when parents can openly share their experiences with an affinity group. Addison Staff would not participate as we want all families to feel comfortable in sharing. Therefore, if interested in leading an affinity group for Caucasian, Latinx , Asian American, Pacific Islanders/ Polynesian, African American , or Multiracial, please contact me directly at email@example.com The Equity Team and/or I can answer your questions and will support your leadership in this important endeavor. Thank you for your consideration.
