Dear Addison Families,
As January comes to an end, we are busily working through many different initiatives at Addison. As I previously mentioned, we are in the midst of mid-year assessments in reading and math so teachers will have updated data regarding students' progress after Feb. 12. Additionally, many of our staff and community members have signed up for the 21 Day Racial Equity Habit Building Challenge. Information was sent to all PAUSD families from Yolanda Conaway on Jan. 22. There is still time to sign up here as it begins Feb. 1. If you have signed up and are interested in discussing issues of equity, race and social justice with our Addison community, please email me asap.
Today, we also had a staff training on what to do in the case of a Declared Emergency such as a major earthquake, gas leak, etc. Our staff is committed to the safety of all students while in our care. Staff members are assigned to teams to practice procedures related to student accountability, search and rescue, first aid and student release to families. If your students are in school through the hybrid program, please see important updates below:
- In the case of Declared Emergency, all parents will need to to pick up their child at the Addison Ave. entrance gate between rooms 2 and 4.
- Only the emergency contacts listed on your child's Infinite Campus account will be able to pick up your child. Therefore, it might be worthwhile to review your emergency contacts and/or call the front office if you would like to add anyone.
- If you have a 5th grader this year, please see attached letter.
We are still unsure when our staff will be able to receive the COVID vaccine as we need to wait for the announcement that Group 1B is eligible. At that time, our HR Department has provided us with proof of employment so that we can schedule vaccinations with our health care providers. Thus far, we have not had any positive student or staff COVID results at Addison in 2021. We continue to be vigilant with our safety measures and appreciate your commitment to limiting social interaction and travel.
