Principal's Update- March 20, 2020
Fri, Mar 20 6:58pm

Dear Addison Families,

It’s hard to believe that only one week ago, I was informing staff that it would be our last day with students and the landscape of education was about to change.  My role as Parent and Principal has dramatically changed and I know that we are all adjusting to something that we, collectively and individually, have never experienced before. Please remember to be kind to yourselves and patient with one another as we all go through this experience together. It is my wish for all of you that your family will begin to find the balance, grace and flexibility to live this ‘new normal’ existence.

I’ve mentioned many times over the past week the pride I feel for our staff and community but now I want to recognize the tremendous efforts made by District Office personnel.  They have worked countless hours to plan, communicate, and support the site principals so that we really are working as a unified school district.  They have increased the Flexible Learning Options for next week which will be emailed out by the classroom teachers on Monday.  Also, we are planning for more structured and specific online learning after Spring Break in the case that schools are still closed.

I had my first teacher staff meeting via Zoom this morning and want to acknowledge how they have stepped up, embraced the change and worked incredibly hard this past week to learn new online tools and make meaningful connections with you and your children. They will continue to reach out to students in various ways next week.  Also, they are working (3) hours per day in office hours to support students and families so you are welcome to email them as needs arise but please let them initiate the Zoom video conferences with your child(ren) if they are utilizing that platform.

Now that the dust has settled in this ‘new normal’, I will be pushing out a weekly email to Parents/Guardians every Wednesday.  This email will keep you informed on the latest updates regarding the school closure, learning opportunities and other pertinent news.  Please also be on the lookout for any and all correspondence from our Superintendent, Dr. Don Austin.

I hope that you are well and I look forward to this continued journey together.  Have a great weekend!

Fondly,

Amanda Boyce

Principal
