Dear Addison Families,
On Tuesday, September 8th, Santa Clara County moved from the most-restrictive “purple” tier to the “red” tier in California’s new COVID-19 monitoring system. For PAUSD, this means that if we can remain out of “purple” for fourteen days, schools could be allowed to open for large-scale in-person instruction as early as September 22. However, PAUSD has predetermined that large-scale in-person instruction would not commence prior to October 12. Throughout September, PAUSD will continue to monitor the list and have public discussions before moving back to in-person models.
As a result of the announcement yesterday, Elementary Principals are beginning to plan a return to school. This includes a plan for entering and exiting campus, scheduling our start/end time, staggering recess and lunch periods, and designating areas for cohorts to play. Additionally, we will be reviewing the safety guidelines from Santa Clara County and planning accordingly.
Our next supplies distribution and collection is scheduled for Monday, September 14th from 3-5pm. Teachers will inform students and families if there is anything to pick up or turn in for a particular class. Additionally, we are starting our library book check-out! If students would like to check out books for pick up on Monday, they need to submit their requests by Thursday @ 4pm. Our Librarian, Ms. Ohanian, offered an online tutorial at 4pm today to guide families on book check out. The presentation was recorded so she will send it out for families that could not attend today.
Additionally, teachers and grade level teams are scheduling class and/or grade level Zoom meetings with parents next week. This allows teachers to share information and observations from the first few weeks of school with families as we continue our partnership. Teachers will send more information on the meeting dates/ times.
