Addison Community -

We have been faced with a lot of change over the past 2 days! Not surprisingly, our community has pulled together to check on each other, look out for all students and show our appreciation for teachers & staff as we were picking up kids, rearranging family logistics and running to the grocery store. Thank you to Tedi Mills (Addison Staff) and Andrea Moore (Grandmother of Henry & Charlie Germain) for their Spanish translation help.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:
I have received many emails from families asking how they can help. Many in our community - including a very small number of staff members - are only paid if they are able to go to work which will cause food security issues and/or financial needs during the school closures. We have established a fund to offer some support to these individuals and families. If you would like to contribute, please do so here.  Additionally, a box will be placed on the porch of my home (115 Waverley) to collect gift cards from stores where life essentials may be purchased (Cardenas, Safeway, Target). The PTA will work closely with Principal Boyce to determine how best to direct any resources to support the Addison community.

There are also many ways you can help in our larger community.

  • Ecumenical Hunger Program (EHP) published a wishlist of items they are in most need of at this time. Please consider dropping off items or ordering on Amazon for delivery.
  • Donate and/or volunteer at the Second Harvest Food Bank - The Second Harvest Food Bank will be a major source of food for our most vulnerable families. Please consider supporting their much needed efforts.
  • The Ravenswood Community Foundation (REF) is establishing an emergency fund to provide financial relief related to the school closures for families in the Ravenswood School District. Contribute to the REF Emergency Fund.
