Update- Air Quality- Schools Open Tomorrow

Addison Elementary

Dear Addison Families,

I know you must be reading news reports regarding school districts and independent schools closing tomorrow due to poor air quality.  We had a Principals Meeting with our Superintendent at 2pm today.  At that time, he indicated that PAUSD will follow the directives of the Santa Clara County Office of Education.  He sent the following message around 3pm today (see below).  Therefore, for now, the Addison Staff is planning to be at school tomorrow.  I will be checking my phone and email throughout the evening and will update you if anything changes.  Also, while we are confident that we can keep your child safe at school tomorrow, if you choose to keep your child home due to poor air quality, this will be considered an excused absence.

Dear PAUSD Community,

Our staff has monitored the air quality affected by devastating fires in our region. Additionally, we have been in contact with the school districts that comprise Santa Clara County. The Santa Clara County Office of Education provided a news release a short time ago indicating that schools in our area will remain open tomorrow. We met with all site principals this afternoon to review our expectations for tomorrow. All extra-curricular outdoor activities previously scheduled for our sites will be cancelled. Students will have indoor options available for breaks and meals. Please communicate any specific health-related concerns directly with your school site. As a reminder, our schools are all closed next week.

Sincerely,

Don Austin

Superintendent of Schools
