Hello Aiken families,

We hope you are enjoying this gorgeous Sunday. There are a lot of fun upcoming Aiken events. Check them out below!

Fall After School Program Descriptions

Please see attached flyer for registration form.  Registration opened Thursday, September 5th, so send in your forms right away.  These classes are filling up fast and are on a first come first serve basis, so make sure your child knows to hand in the registration form when you send it into the school.

Email with any questions.

Photography (Grades 1-5)
In this eye-opening adventure into the world of photography, kids learn ALL NEW techniques, just like the pros use! From blue skies and green trees to friendly smiles and sandaled feet, our junior shutterbugs capture it all for their very own portfolios. And because all young stars deserve their time to shine, we conclude with a gallery to show off their artistic images to friends and family! Cameras are provided for the children to use during each class. New and experienced photographers welcome.

Mondays - 3:30-4:40 (October 7th - December 2nd)

 Magic Masters (Grades K-5)

Abracadabra!  Calling all budding magicians – learn to perform astounding new tricks this spring!  You’ll make objects disappear, reappear and float in the air.  Mystify your audience with your mastery of mind-reading!  At the end of the session, you’ll share your new skills with friends and family in a real magic show…. And keep all the tricks!  Class is designed to enhance communication and performance skills in a supportive, creative atmosphere.  Learn it.  Perform it.  Keep it.  Discover the talent you have up your sleeve.

Wednesdays 2:00-3:00, (October 16th - December 11th)

Please make sure your child returns their summer reading log to their new teacher...even if only one book was read! No worries if your summer reading log was misplaced or you are new to Aiken...writing your books down on a piece of paper (include your name and grade) works too! If you used the READsquared app, please make sure to print your reading log and send it in. I can’t wait to see all the books that were read this summer!

Save the date for Aiken's very popular, family-friendly, event Swoop Scoops! You can feast on the generously donated ice cream of Abby Dabby, as well as Iron & Grain Food Truck and East Coast Pizza Truck. There will be bounce houses as well as live music from the band Reign, comprised of West Hartford high school students.

The weather is finally turning cooler, and we are hopeful you will help us by sorting through your closets for winter items you can donate. We are looking for scarves, hats, snow pants, coats, mittens, etc. The coat drive will start on September 26th and run for two weeks. We will have a box outside the main office where students can drop their old belongings into. Thank you in advance!

There are now two easy ways to earn money for Aiken School though Box Tops for Education. You can download the app and scan your receipt, or you can continue to send in the box tops in plastic bags (grouped by 25). Of course, if you already taped them on a piece of paper we'll accept that as well. Please see the attached flyer for all the details.

You can also earn money for Aiken School every time you shop on Amazon by simply going to and selecting Aiken School PTO as the charity you want to support. You will find the exact same items and discounts as you would see on, but by going through you have the added bonus of donating money to Aiken every time you shop! Please see the attached flyer for more information.

Curriculum night is Thursday, September 12th.

Have a great week!

Tina & Amy

PTO Co-Presidents
