Dear Aiken Families,
This Wednesday from 5:30-7:30 is the Aiken Fun Fair and there are so many ways you can help. Please check out the signup link, previously sent out through Konstella. We’ve, unfortunately, decided to take the mini golf game out of the Fun Fair line up due to lack of volunteers to supervise it (we feel it’s not safe to have even plastic golf clubs out for the kids to play with without adequate supervision). If there are other games/bounce houses which are not supervised we will have to take them away as well, so please volunteer to help out.
If you haven’t already registered you can still do so, print out the attached form and send it in to school with your child. You can also pay at the event.
There will be bounce houses, face painting, a DJ, food trucks, games and so much more! Don’t miss out!
VOLUNTEER BREAKFAST – JUNE 6th 8:00-8:30
Aiken teachers and staff would like to thank all the volunteers who helped out at the school this year by inviting them and their families to a breakfast on June 6th. Please see the attached flyer for more information and information on how to RSVP.
FARMER’S MARKET – JUNE 6th 3:20-4:30
Mark your calendars for this delicious and nutritious event. Right after school a Farmer’s Market will be set up where you and your child can come together and pick out some tasty, local, fruits and vegetables for dinner that night. This is the perfect day to pick up your child from school, instead of having them take the bus. After the Farmer’s Market take your child to the playground and then maybe for ice cream after. Summer is in the air and farmer’s markets, playgrounds and ice cream all go hand-in-hand!
AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE WEST HARTFORD FOOD SERVICES DIRECTOR
Due to the large amount of food waste and lack of participation, we will not be offering salad bar next year.
We have found that students take and consume more fresh fruits and vegetables, when they are offered as a side option with their meal.
For the 19/20 SY we have increased our fresh fruits and vegetable budget, and will be focusing on a variety of daily offerings.

If you have any interest in joining the Aiken PTO board please email us and we can go over the open board positions for next year. This is a really great way to get involved in your child’s school and help make important decisions on how best to spend the money we raise throughout the year.
