Hello Aiken families,
We can not believe the end of the school year has come. These times are very challenging but we have to say we are so impressed and thankful with our school, teachers and staff. They have all made this difficult time less stressful. We have such a strong community and we are so happy to be a part of it.
We wish all our Aiken families, friends, teachers and staff and very happy and healthy summer.
The PTO board would love to welcome our newest board members for the 2020-2021 school year.

The PTO is saying goodbye to Natalee Martin, Dana McCormick and Sarah Bendor. We thank you for your very hard work and dedication for the past several years and all that you have contributed to Aiken. We were very lucky to have such hard working, helping moms on our board.
The West Hartford Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Parent Group has issued a statement regarding the recent acts of racism and social injustice that have taken place in our country. In the coming weeks, they will be hosting community conversations as well as providing a safe and healing space for families to connect. Their letter also offers emotional and crisis support resources for families. Aiken parents, Trisha Pitter, Amy Raider and Sarah Willen are the current EDI contacts for our school. Please see attachment.

Lastly, a couple of reminders before the last day.
If you have library books that need to be returned you may drop them off in the front of Aiken school. There is a large amount bin labeled “library books”. You may drop them off any time between 8:00 and 3:00.
Please don’t forget your scheduled times to pick up your children’s belongings. If you are unable to make your scheduled time, you may pick up your belongings anytime on Friday. Just make sure to call the office staff to let them know and they will bring out your materials.
Aiken Schedule for Picking up Student Belongings
The Connecticut Education Association donated 50 “Thank You Teachers” lawn signs to Aiken! We’ve set them up around the circle, so please stop by and pick one up for your lawn!! First come first serve.
Time Capsule- for a class gift, the fifth graders purchased a time capsule. We would love to have each Aiken student or family contribute an artifact for the capsule. It can be anything you would like. Some examples can be a written document, a drawing, or a letter to future Aiken students. Please send this in to Shannon Mlodzinski before the end of the week.
We hope you have a wonderful summer and you are able to enjoy your time with your families. We can not wait to the day where we see our kids gather again in the hallways of Aiken.
