The Story behind PJ Day
When I was just 2 ½ years old, my newborn baby sister was diagnosed with cancer. She fought courageously for her entire first year of life. Today she is over 8 years cancer free and as healthy as can be! We are forever grateful for the lifesaving care she received at Connecticut Children’s. My family and I are so glad to have Charlotte healthy and cancer free.
In 2011, as a 2nd grader, I made a decision to help other brave kids like my sister. Together, my family and I started Pajama Day for the Kids. I thought about the kids in the hospital who have to wear their pajamas for days, weeks or even longer while fighting cancer and other serious illnesses at the hospital.
Once a year, the kids at my school wear their pajamas in honor of the kids at Connecticut Children’s. In exchange for this privilege, they are asked to bring a donation of $1 or more.
All proceeds are donated to Connecticut Children’s in support of Cancer and Blood Disorder patients. More than $637,000 has been raised to date! We hope that by raising money we can help other courageous kids overcome their battle.
Remember that Pajama Day is a way for you the help others who need it most by standing together with others across the state in support of patients at Connecticut Children’s.
Thank you for supporting PJ Day for the Kids!
Cant wait to see our Aiken community in their PJs,
Amy and Tina
