PTO Meeting This Week
Sun, Mar 24 7:22pm

Dear Aiken Families,

On Tuesday, March 26th at 6:00pm the Aiken PTO will host a short meeting to discuss some upcoming events, Tom Moore's proposed budget, and open PTO Board positions for next year - all are welcome!

We have a great PTO presentation coming up this Tuesday!  Please join us in the Aiken Library for a short PTO meeting at 6:00, followed by a presentation on Mindfulness given by Martin Smith, Clinical Director at The Bridge.  All are welcome and babysitting will be available!

SCIENCE FAIR - April 3rd - King Phillip Middle School Cafeteria

Please join us on Wednesday, April 3rd from 6-7:30 at King Philip Middle School for the Aiken Science Fair.  The 4th and 5th graders have been working hard on science projects designed using the scientific method and want to share their work with you.  This event is open to all Aiken families who would like to come so don’t hesitate to join us.  We are still looking for volunteers for next year and this is a great way to get to see what the final project is and how you can help be a part of the Aiken School Science fair.

Spring After School Program Descriptions

Please see attached flyer for registration form.  Registration is open and classes will be filled on a first come first serve basis, so send in your forms right away.

Airplane Builders (Grades K-5)
Wannabe pilots, you are cleared for take-off! We’ll make the physics of flying simple and fun; you’ll learn how to build all new model helicopters, gliders and even motorized planes! You’ll even go outside to fly your hand-crafted machines and take them home to fly some more. This class is aerodynamically designed to teach STEM concepts through hands-on learning and flying fun. You build it. You fly it. You keep it. Control tower over and out.  Mondays 3:30-4:30, April 15-June 10.

Magic Masters (Grades K-5)

Abracadabra!  Calling all budding magicians – learn to perform astounding new tricks this spring!  You’ll make objects disappear, reappear and float in the air.  Mystify your audience with your mastery of mind-reading!  At the end of the session, you’ll share your new skills with friends and family in a real magic show…. And keep all the tricks!  Class is designed to enhance communication and performance skills in a supportive, creative atmosphere.  Learn it.  Perform it.  Keep it.  Discover the talent you have up your sleeve.  Wednesdays 2:00-3:00, April 17-June 5

On certain Wednesdays Aiken offers a delicious, fresh salad bar for students to enjoy at lunch.  However, this is only possible if we have a parent volunteer at the salad bar during the lunch shift (11:15-1:00)! This is an important AND fun way to volunteer at Aiken, so please consider signing up! Click on the link to see which days volunteers are needed and to sign up.  Thanks so much for supporting this important meal choice!

Even though this year is still in full swing, we are looking to fill a few PTO Board openings for next year.  If you are interested in learning how you can help Aiken by volunteering on the PTO Board please email to learn about the open positions and how you can help!

Keep clipping those box tops and handing them in.  This is a super easy way to earn money for the school.  The class with the most box tops handed in at the end of the year will earn a prize!

Don't let those old markers take up space in a landfill!  Send in your dried up markers and drop them in the Color Cycle box outside the office, they will be recycled!  Every little bit helps!

Aiken School is collecting plastics to be recycled into TREX decking!!  Send in plastic bags,  bread bags, baggies, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, plastic over wrap - collection bins are located outside the office.  Please make sure the plastic is clean (no food).

If you have any questions about the PTO please don't hesitate to reach out!

Best wishes,

Abiah & Tina
