SUPER BOWL FOOD DRIVE, Read-a-thon, CULTURAL TRADITIONS NIGHT

Hi Aiken Families,

 

We hope you had a nice weekend.  Please read below for updates on what is coming up!

 

3rd Annual Read-a-thon  

IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO SIGN UP!

 

Aiken Elementary is excited to provide a family engagement school fundraiser that shares our love of reading while teaching children the importance of giving back to our school.
 
We invite Aiken Elementary families to help their children track their progress using Read for My School’s digital platform and share your child’s donation page with friends and family to raise money for our school fundraiser.
 
This year our goal is to raise $5,000. We are challenging kids to read 20 mins for 20 school days. We have many great prizes to win:
  • The class that reads the most minutes wins a movie party (PK-2nd & 3rd-5th) 
  • All classes that have at least 75% participation will be entered into a lottery for an extra recess
  • All students that raise at least $1 will be entered into a lottery for:
    •     Library duty for an afternoon
    •     Lunch with Mrs. Mlodzinski
    •     Lunch with Mrs. Tamaccio
    •     $15 Barnes & Noble's gift card

 SUPER BOWL FOOD DRIVE

The Super Bowl Food Drive runs February 6-10.  Please see the attached flyer for more information!  And thank you to Mrs. Bohle's class for partnering with the PTO to help sponsor and promote the food drive. After an influx of donations during the holidays, the shelves are in need of restocking so this food drive comes at the perfect time. The West Hartford Food Pantry would like to thank the Aiken community for hosting this fundraiser. Our contributions will positively impact many families.

 

Cultural Traditions Night

FEBRUARY 27th 6:30pm -8pm

Come out to celebrate the diversity and multiculturalism that exists with-in the Aiken school community. It’s one of our favorite events of the year and we are thrilled to bring it back in person after a 2 year hiatus. We ask that you consider attending or contributing to this beautiful event that showcases the spirit of who we are at Aiken! We welcome all and any level or participation. Mark your Calendar's Parents Night Out is May 5th! 

Parents’ Night Out is the largest fundraiser for the whole year and has supported so many important investments at Aiken like classroom smart boards, teacher wish list items, subscriptions for the school, field trips, etc.
