Parent/Teacher Conferences

As you probably know, parent/teacher conferences are coming up next month.  Even though these will still be virtual the PTO is hoping to show our support and appreciation to our teachers by providing some snacks/breakfasts/lunches throughout the week.  If you are able to contribute to this effort, please Venmo @Abiah-Ruel  (Aiken PTO Co Vice-President) and write your child’s grade(s) in the subject line – you can also send in cash or check made out to Aiken PTO and send it into the office.  We are asking that all contributions be sent in by March 1st.  Thanks so much for your continued support of Aiken School!

 PTO Read-A-Thon February 1st-February 29th

The PTO is excited to run a Read-a-thon supporting the Tyler Family during the Month of February.  50% of proceeds will go directly to the Tyler Family and the other 50% will go to the PTO.  Please support our innovative approach to fundraising by combining our love of reading while embracing the importance of giving back to our community.  Our hope is that each child will read at least 20 minutes per school night.  The class with the most minutes read per student will win a class movie party!
You can use this link to register https://rfms.app/22662 for the read-a-thon.
Go ahead and get your student set up, but don't forget that we are not entering minutes read until February 1st!  To learn more about the read-a-thon, please see the attached parent letter.

Celebrating Black History Month

Discover this poignant, timely, and emotionally stirring picture book, an ode to black and brown children everywhere that is full of hope, assurance, and love.

Tami Charles pens a poetic, lyrical text that is part love letter, part anthem, assuring readers that they always have, and always will, matter. This powerful, rhythmic lullaby reassures readers that their matter and their worth is never diminished, no matter the circumstance: through the joy and wonder of their first steps and first laughter, through the hardship of adolescent struggles and the pain and heartbreak of current events, they always have, and always will, matter. Accompanied by illustrations by renowned artist Bryan Collier, a four-time Caldecott Honor recipient and a nine-time Coretta Scott King Award winner or honoree, All Because You Matter empowers readers with pride, joy, and comfort, reminding them of their roots and strengthening them for the days to come.
Lyrical, personal, and full of love, All Because You Matteris for the picture book audience what The Hate U Givewas for YA and Ghost Boys was for middle grade: a conversation starter, a community touchstone, and a deep affirmation of worth for the young readers who need it most.
