Dear Aiken Families,

We hope you've had a fun and restful spring break and are ready to tackle these final few months of the 2018-2019 school year!  There are still many more exciting events and volunteer opportunities to come - read below to find out about a few of them!

AIKEN ART SHOW SET-UP - April 22- May 6 

Don't miss the Aiken Art show, scheduled for May 7th from 5:00-7:00. 

Your children have been working hard in art class to produce artistic masterpieces you'll love.  But before the big day arrives, we need your help to set it up!  Help transform Aiken School into a stunning art gallery featuring the works of your children!!  Please click on the link to sign up to help set up the art show.  This is a long process, which will take a couple weeks, so sign up to help once or a few times.  Any time you are willing to spend setting up the show is so appreciated!  http://signup.com/go/xvJZgQZ 

HIP-HOP NIGHT - THIS THURSDAY, APRIL 18th, 5:00-6:30, HALL HIGH GYMNASIUM B

This event is well-loved by students and parents alike.  All week during PE Hip Hop artist Red Supreme will be teaching the students hip hop dance moves which will be showcased on Thursday night.  This week of fun, and family dance night is made possible by the Leslie and Jason Congdon Grant: "Staying Healthy with Hip Hop" grant from the Foundation for West Hartford Public Schools, and with the help of the Aiken PTO.

PTO VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

During the week of May 6th the Aiken students and PTO will be showing our appreciation to the teachers and staff through a fun week of treats and surprises.  Please help us make this week special by volunteering to be a part of the Teacher Appreciation Week Committee.  This is a great way to get involved in the PTO without too much time commitment.  We are hoping to find a parent or two who would be willing to be a part of this committee for a few years and could be trained by our very experienced coordinator, who only has one year left at Aiken.  Please email Alexi Lahav at alexi_lahav@yahoo.com to be added to the committee. 

OPEN PTO BOARD POSITIONS

If you have interest in joining the PTO Board we have openings for next year.  The PTO Board works to plan a variety of events throughout the year.  We also give thoughtful consideration to teacher requests for classroom and curriculum enhancements.  We work hard to make sure every student has the best elementary school experience possible.  Come help us make sure Aiken School continues to be one of the best elementary schools in Connecticut!  Email Aikenpto@gmail.com with questions.
