Argonne Family Letter from the Principal, 10/26/20
Mon, Oct 26 10:02am

Dear Argonne Families,

Good Morning! I hope your week is off to a great start! As we round out October, we have two big things happening this week- Distribution and a virtual Halloween Parade! Please read below for all the details and links.

  • Mid-Fall Distribution Day: On Friday, October 30th from 8:30-12:00pm, we will provide a Mid-Fall Distribution Day.

    • See the schedule and map here: Mid-Fall Distribution Schedule and Map

    • Enter at the 17th Avenue gate and exit at the Cabrillo Street gate.

    • To minimize large groups on site, please do your best to come to the assigned time slot for your grade. As always, please wear a mask and main physical distancing.

    • Students are not expected or required to attend the pick up.

    • If attending distribution day is a challenge, you may coordinate with friends and other families to pick up for you.

    • Please communicate with your child’s teacher if you are unable to pick up materials and need to request other arrangements.

    • This pick up is for learning materials only (not devices or hotspots). If you need a device, you may make a request through ParentVUE. When you log in, the request form is under Online Forms Portal.

  • Virtual Halloween Dance Party Parade and Spooky Pre-Parade Sessions - Friday, October 30th.

  • Media Release Form: Please complete the Media Release Form. To do this: Log into ParentVUE, click on forms, and check off the media release forms, as appropriate. By completing this form, your child is cleared to participate in school photos and videos that will be used on the school website and during the Virtual Enrollment Fair. It also allows our student teachers to video-tape their lessons for learning and development.

  • English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC) Election: If you are a parent or guardian of an English Language Learner, please see this election form for electing our new members.

  • Technology Tips: If you are having some challenges with technology, check out this document. It has a lot of good technology tidbits on how to troubleshoot common issues on the Chromebooks. Please refer to this first if you are having issues with your child’s technology.

  • The Virtual Enrollment Fair will be November 6-13th: Please see this link for more information. This only applies to 5th grade families exploring middle schools and families that have an incoming kinder, but please feel free to share this information with families in the community that might be interested in enrolling in SFUSD.

Last week, many of you received a message from SFUSD regarding next steps for returning to in person learning. As was shared in the Fall Plan for 2020, there are three phases toward school reopening: Phase 1 - Distance Learning, Phase 2 - Gradual Return / Hybrid, Phase 3 - Full Return. Dr. Matthews shared an update on the School Reopening Dashboard (presentation deck here) at last week’s School Board Meeting. You can find the Reopening Dashboard here and details on the plan. At SFUSD, small groups for Phase 2A, are the youngest students in PK, early elementary students TK-1st, and students with disabilities in moderate/severe special day classes (more on Phase 2A here). This first group of students at approximately 10-15 schools is likely to begin no sooner than January 2021. At this time, Argonne will continue to be in Phase 1 - Distance Learning. Once we learn more, I will be sharing any changes with the community.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Distribution Day and Virtual Halloween Parade!

In Community,

Ms. Catingub
