Argonne Family Letter from the Principal, 5/3/21
Mon, May 3 11:48am

Dear Argonne Families,

We had a wonderful week 2 of in person learning. It was so great to welcome back some of our 3rd-5th graders! I continue to be impressed at how well our students are taking to the many changes on site and in their classes.

This week we celebrate Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week! The success of our reopening is due in part to the hard work of our teachers and staff! I am so proud of everything they have done and continue to do to ensure that each and every one of our students experiences joyful learning.

Please take a moment to send a card, email, or note of appreciation to all our hard working staff! I’ve also created this padlet as another way to show our gratitude!

In Community,

Ms. Catingub

Important Reminders:

  • SFUSD Culture Climate Survey: Each year SFUSD surveys our staff, students (4th and 5th graders) and families as one way to measure the culture and climate of our school. It is an important way to help us understand how our families feel about our school and your child’s learning, and it helps us know how our school can improve. The survey is available online and is translated into Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Arabic and Samoan. Here is the link for our school-specific survey: This survey will be anonymous. We will track how many families have completed the survey, but we will not know what any individual says on any question. Parents with multiple children at Argonne should fill out one survey for each child. If you have children in another school, you should fill out a survey at that school as well. Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey.

  • Summer Session Survey: Argonne’s Summer Session will occur between July 6-30. SFUSD summer programs will continue to implement our Covid safety protocols and provide students with learning through the distance and in-person model. The format and structure of our Summer Session will be dependent on the interest of our families to continue with distance or in person learning. We are asking families to complete this survey to indicate your preference for in person or distance learning this July. Please complete this survey by Wednesday, May 5.

  • 5th Grade Families- SAVE THE DATE! Our 5th Grade Promotion/Graduation Ceremony will be held on Friday, May 28th at 9:30am. This event will be virtual. Mark your calendar and please register in advance here:

    • Arrival:

      • K-2 students will enter at the Cabrillo Street gate.

      • 3-5 students will enter on the 17th Avenue gate.

      • All students will be asked health screening questions. Please help prepare your child by reviewing the questions ahead of time.

      • Students will go directly to their homebase spots marked on the yard. Students may not play on the play structure.

      • As part of our required safety protocols, if your child has any of the symptoms indicated at arrival or during the day, we will call home for your child to be picked up.

    • Dismissal:

      • Classes will use the same gates for dismissal as they enter for arrival.

      • We ask that parents/guardians line up at the cones labeled for your child’s teacher on the sidewalk. Please do not block or gather at the gate opening.

      • Our staff will be working together to call for students to be dismissed from their class spaces (homebases) on the yard.

    • Walk or Park Your Car:

      • One way to help our arrival and dismissal process is to walk and park. We highly encourage parents and guardians to walk to school OR park your car and walk to the arrival or dismissal gates.

      • The white loading zone is for drop offs ONLY, please do not double park or park in the white zone.

      • If you are driving for dismissal, please be prepared to circle the block if your child is not out of school yet. We cannot have cars backed up on 17th Ave or Cabrillo.

    • Siblings:

      • Siblings may enter the same gate as the youngest sibling for arrival.

      • We are also asking siblings to sit with the youngest sibling for dismissal. For example, if you have a 4th and 1st grader- your 4th grade child will need to walk to your 1st grader’s class and sit with their sibling and socially distanced from other students.
