Argonne Family Letter from the Principal, 8/16/20
Mon, Aug 17 7:29am

Dear Argonne Families,

Tomorrow is the start of our regular 2020-2021 school year! I am so excited for us to restart our year together! Our teachers have been working around the clock to prepare for this launch of distance learning, and we are all excited to reconnect with your children- as well as meet some new faces!

Here are a few highlights of information for you:

  • Distribution Days: We will start the week with two Distribution Days on 8/17 and 8/18! Please see the information from my letter on Friday (English letter , Chinese letter) for all the details for Distribution Days.

  • Week of August 17th: Teachers have been given dedicated time in their work week to prioritize family and student outreach. This will be the priority, as well as hosting the minimum of 120 minutes of live instruction, for some whole class and small group, synchronous community building, and learning. Please know that this week of school will be a period of working out schedules, supporting technical issues, and reaching out and connecting with students and families. This is not completely unlike what it would be if we were to come back in person. We appreciate everyone adjusting their expectations in light of the extraordinary circumstances we are all facing. Teachers and staff have been working incredibly hard for weeks now to prepare for our students. That said, we do anticipate some glitches that we will work out. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding.

  • New Families to Argonne: Welcome! As teachers connect their classroom communities and get the year up and running again, they will be reaching out to our new families individually as well.

  • School Begins at 8:30am: Whether synchronously or asynchronously, please build the routine with your children that school begins at 8:30am.

  • Class Schedules: All classes should have received information on your class schedule by now OR when to meet on Monday from your classroom teachers. Please know that schedules will shift some as teachers and specialists collaborate on their schedules.

  • CASP: Argonne's Chinese After School Program is continuing to provide wonderful after school enrichment for our families through Distance Learning. Please see this flyer for more information.

As always, thank you for all your support of our teachers and staff!

In Community,

Ms. Catingub
