Argonne Family Letter from the Principal, 9/14/20
Mon, Sep 14 10:07am

Dear Argonne Families,

It was so nice to see many of you at Back to School Night last week! This evening is always a fun way to flip the switch and get our students’ grown ups in their kid’s seats. Although it was virtual this year, I hope you still got a sense of your child’s virtual classroom community. Here are the slides shared during my portion of the evening.

In addition to our updates below, I’m excited to introduce you to Mr. Alfred Sanchez. Mr. Sanchez has been assigned to our school as a temporary TSA (Teacher on Special Assignment).

Hello Argonne Community! My name is Alfred Sanchez and I will be supporting Argonne during distance learning as a Teacher on Special Assignment. I am originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico and moved to San Francisco with my family seven years ago. I have been teaching for sixteen years in total and with SFUSD for the past seven years. I am looking forward to being a part of the community and having the opportunity to support our students.

Here are your updates for the week:

  • Wellness Checks: The purpose of the Family Wellness Checks is to learn from families if there are any specific needs or extra support desired with regards to the schools being closed and children learning at home. These check in calls are not parent-teacher conferences, but instead an opportunity to partner with the school community around resources and needs. Please complete this survey to indicate your needs and inform the school on how best to follow up with you.

  • School Site Council (SSC): We will have our first SSC Meeting this Tuesday from 5:00-6:30pm. This year we are seeking two additional parents/caregivers and two alternates. If you are interested in joining, please email me and come to the meeting! The SSC is a great way to learn more about our school and get involved in the school planning process. Zoom Link:, Meeting ID: 817 2849 0809, Passcode: 809378

  • Multipurpose Family Income Form (MFIF): Families should complete this form to be able to receive free or reduced school meals.

  • Technology Update: If you’re having trouble with your technology at home, please check out the Family Technology Support page. If you need a device, please feel free to contact me directly.

  • SF Loves Learning Season 2: It’s back and it airs on Mondays at 2pm! The show will provide daily culturally affirming academic, social emotional, movement, and creative content from SFUSD educators, students, families, and community partners. It will model SFUSD's Core values, develop students' Graduate Profile (life) skills, and provide opportunities to showcase their work. This program is geared toward K-2. How to watch SF Loves Learning: On KTVU Plus on TV: (Broadcast Channel - 36, AT&T - 1006, Comcast - 6 / 706, DirectTV - 36, DISH - 36, WAVE - 92 / 201

  • Clap In - LIVE!: Here is the Zoom Link again for our whole school morning assembly. This Friday, Ms. Parker will host., Meeting ID: 827 3705 0408, Passcode: 656524
