Argonne Family Letter from the Principal, 9/28/20
Mon, Sep 28 11:11am

Dear Argonne Families,

Good Morning! Wishing you all a great last week of September!

Here are the updates for the week:

  • School Site Council (SSC) and English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) Nomination Form

    • Please take a moment to complete this nomination form. Both our SSC and ELAC are seeking new members.

    • What is the SSC? A SSC must be established at all San Francisco Unified School District public schools. The elected members represent parents, students, community members, and school staff in school governance. The SSC is responsible for the development of the Academic Plan, and overall school site budget including any categorical funds.

    • What is the ELAC? The purpose of the ELAC is to advise the principal, SSC and school staff on programs and services for English Learners. The tasks are similar to the SSC’s and also include: the annual language census and ways to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.

    • Both of these groups are valuable ways to volunteer your time in supporting our school! Thank you for your consideration!

  • Student Absences: If your child will be absent from distance learning, please communicate with your classroom teacher and inform the office. You may copy our school in your email to the teacher or you may email the school separately at This school email address is managed by Ms. Roschelle and our office staff.

  • SFUSD Updated Fall Learning Plan: On September 22, the District made this Fall recommendation to the School Board. It contains some details on what we would need for a safe Phase 2 roll out. At this time we are continuing with Phase 1/Full Distance Learning. I hope this document answers some of the questions you might have about Phase 2.

  • Media Release Form: Please complete the Media Release Form. To do this: Log into ParentVUE, click on forms, and check off the media release forms, as appropriate. I will be referencing these in the upcoming weeks as I create videos and work on our site website.
  • Please complete the Multipurpose Family Income form for the 20-21 school year today! Visit Besides free meals, completing this form can provide much needed additional state funding for our school next year. Thank you in advance for filling this out!

  • Photo Day: Here is an update from our parent volunteers leading Picture Day:

  • For the health and safety of our students and staff, we have decided to postpone Picture Day to Spring 2021.  Typically, Picture Day would take place in October, and we realize many of you hoped to receive your child's school photos before the holidays, however given the current situation, it is in the best interest of everyone involved to wait until next Spring to take photos. We are excited to be working with a great new photography vendor, MugsyClicks.  We've done our research and have received great feedback about their services. They are reliable, responsive and have been very flexible given the current situation.  Additionally, they are a local family owed business and we are excited to support them.  We will provide more information about Picture Day later in the year and will look for volunteers to help.  We appreciate your patience and understanding. If you have any questions, please contact Juliya Burg (Allie & Caden, Ms. Partika's  4th grade) at or Gretchen Anderson (Gage, Ms. Partika's 4th grade) at  Thank you!

Have a great week- stay healthy and cool!

In Community,

Ms. Catingub
