Get Involved with the PTO! Parent Volunteer Positions for 2020-2021
Fri, Jul 31 4:25pm

Hello Wolfpack!  I hope that you are all well and that everyone had a great summer session.  As the first part of our school year is wrapping up, I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jen Gottlieb and I am the new PTO Volunteer Coordinator for the 2020-2021 school year. I have a 2nd grader, Ava, in Ms. Bondy's class.

We all know that this year is looking very different due to distance learning. Even though we can't all be together in person, we are going to continue to support our school and our community.  Argonne’s school spirit is incredibly strong and there are many ways that you can be involved from the comfort of your homes!

There are some key PTO volunteer roles that are crucial to our school and are currently unfilled. Please check out the descriptions below and send me a message if you are interested (argonnevolunteer@gmail.com). All parents are encouraged to get involved with these roles!

PTO Co-Chair (two-year term) - If you have an interest in making an impact on our community and helping our school navigate this unprecedented time, we hope you will consider sharing your talents with our school as a PTO co-chair. The PTO co-chairs oversee the activities of the PTO. Our PTO works with Principal Catingub, staff, and parents to provide equitable and enriching learning and activities for all of our students. Prior experience on the board or in a leadership role is not a requirement. The best candidates will have an interest in community building, working with various committees, and a willingness to hear parent and staff voices on a variety of issues. Please click here to read a longer description of the role and to submit your information for nomination. Our current co-chair will follow up with all interested parents to answer questions. The submission deadline is Friday, August 21st and the role will be selected by community vote in late August.

PTO Communication - This role acts as a gateway for communication and helps with messaging about school activities. This position is also responsible for production of our twice monthly newsletter via Konstella, which includes relevant community content (For example: important dates, letters from the PTO Co-Chairs and the Principal, District updates, student/teacher spotlights, fundraising news, community events, etc.).  The immediate past communication chair is happy to train and support this role!

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) implementation for Giving Letter Campaign Committee (new role) - We are looking for a volunteer who has experience with CRM systems. The giving letter campaign committee is planning to invest in a new CRM system (probably Salesforce) and is looking for guidance/advice on best practices. You would work with the current committee members and our CRM provider to get the system up and running and ensure successful implementation.

Inclusion Committee Chair - Argonne would like to expand its Inclusion Committee! We are looking for someone to oversee this committee, focusing on advocacy for inclusion, equity and acceptance of all Argonne students.  This position will include sharing information/resources, and help create an on-going dialogue about inclusion in our school community, through virtual (and hopefully on-site later in the year) programs for students and parents.

Please reach out if you have any questions about the above roles. I will be in touch with more opportunities for volunteering when we return in August. I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your summer!

Best,

Jen Gottlieb
