PTO Leadership Volunteer Opportunities
Fri, Apr 30 2:49pm

Dear Argonne Community,

We are still looking for volunteers for open PTO leadership positions that will start next school year. Help us re-boot our school community now that we are returning to in-person learning. There is no better way to connect with your school community than to be a volunteer!

The roles below marked with an * will be voted in the week of May 17. The others do not require a vote. We are looking for more parents to express interest in all the below roles and are happy to talk through the commitment with anyone who is interested.

PTO Co-Chair*: This role oversees all of the activities of the PTO, plans and leads general PTO meetings and Executive Board meetings, serves as the official representative of the PTO, and retains all official records of the PTO. The best candidates will have an interest in enriching school life for all students, working with various committees, and hearing parent and staff voices on a variety of issues. This is a two-year term that overlaps for one year with the previous co-chair (for 2021-2022 the co-chair will be Paul Chan). Prior experience on the board is not a requirement. A more detailed description can be provided for anyone interested.

PTO Communications Chair*: Oversee our communications platforms (Konstella and Mailchimp) and find ways to use them to strengthen our Argonne community. Advise other volunteers about using our platforms to market events and programs.

Community Building Chair: This position leads efforts to both build community at Argonne and serve our larger community together as a school (i.e. helping at the food bank, beach clean ups, etc). The role oversees volunteers who run events and activities and offers the opportunity to contribute your own ideas. This position is what you make of it!

Volunteer Coordinator: This is a critical role at Argonne because our PTO activities cannot be run without volunteers! Through this role you will meet parents and caregivers and help them engage with our school. The previous coordinator will provide a list of roles that need to be filled and train you in how to recruit and manage our amazing volunteers.

PTO Controller: The controller is responsible for the day to day finance activities of the PTO. This role handles expense reimbursement requests and payments, is responsible for collecting and depositing all monies due and depositing funds at the bank, keeps on top of QuickBooks, and assists the Treasurer with finance questions. The position is best for someone with a flexible schedule. The new controller will shadow our current controller next year to learn the ropes!

We look forward to chatting with potential PTO leadership candidates!
