President's Update

 Hello Bobcat Families!

This mark's the last newsletter of the 2020/21 school year - a year we will never forget. Thank you to all of the parents and staff in our amazing Bancroft community. It was great to see more faces at PFC meetings, and bring in new volunteers to help with staff appreciation, the Walkathon, PFC Board positions and more! I am so excited for our new Board that will help carry on PFC's role of enrichment and support for our school.

Thank for allowing me to serve on the Board for the last 4 years, and as President over the last two years! I look forward to continuing to be of service to our school - so if you have an idea for next year, and are looking for a parent to partner with, please give me a call!

As we look toward "fall for all" within MDUSD, the PFC (and all of you as members) will play a vital role in reinitiating and continuing our great programs.  I urge each and every community member to think of how they can participate in supporting and enriching our students over the coming year - there are roles big and small, on-campus and from home, that are available!

Big thank you to Heather Salter for volunteering and taking on the President role, please reach out to her to volunteer for many of the additional roles available (click her for sample list)

Cheers!

Sarah Rhodes

2021-2022 Bancroft PFC Budget

The budget for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year was voted on and approved at the May 11th PFC meeting. The final budget is attached. We are hopeful that there will be sufficient donations to bring back at least 3 instructional aides and to support many of the programs (Garden, STEAM Lab, Art Appreciation, Raz Kids, iReady math, ) that the teachers have requested to support our students.

2021/2022 Additional Volunteers Needed for PFC Roles!!

Though we have a full slate for the Board positions, there are still so many volunteer roles that we need to fill for the 2021/2022 school year. Many of the opportunities for involvement can be done completely remotely and/or in just a few hours of your time each month. Please reach out to any of the current or upcoming board members to find out more about how you can get involved. As we know, many hands make for light work. You are very much needed to make big things happen for our Bancroft kids!

Vist our website: http://www.bancroftpfc.org/about-us.html There is a job position summary document link at the bottom of the page.

  • Redwood Seedling Update - Bancroft has distributed giant sequioa seedlings to Pacheco Valle Preserve, Bothe-Napa Valley State Park and Sequioa Woods Country Club. If you would like to return your redwood to school, please take your seedling to the garden. The summer garden team will continue to care for the seedlings. Several organizations have asked for us to care for the redwoods until fall.
  • Bake for Good - Fourth and fifth graders have been participating in King Arthur Baking Company’s free baking outreach program. Students learn to make bread from scratch using ingredients supplied by King Arthur and the PFC. Students make two loaves, one they keep and one that is shared as an act of kindness. Bancroft bakers have made rustic rounds, cinnamon rolls and baguettes! Delicious!
  • BANCROFT BOBCATS rock the garden - Your students continue to bloom as naturalists, explorers and gardeners. The earth leaf pledges were inspiring. Thank you.
  • A partial list of garden projects: planting of a Native American three sisters garden which includes Hopi pink corn, Dakota black popping corn, glass gem corn, zucchini squash, Dragon tongue beans, orca beans and scarlet runner beans; seeding and planting of seedlings including birdhouse gourds, cosmo flowers, snacker sunflowers, Mongolian giant sunflowers, zinnias, pole beans and rattlesnake beans; moving mulch for water conservation, weeding, scavenger hunts, student created kindness rocks and flower bracelets have been part of our fabulous garden community.
  • Summer wishes - continue to care for the earth, eat well, exercise, and enjoy the outdoors.
