Letter from our PFC President

Dear Bancroft Families,

Did you know every year the PFC raises funds to provide over $170,000 worth of programming at Bancroft? This includes purchasing chromebooks, paying for instructional aides in the classroom, supporting S.T.E.A.M., Art Appreciation, and the Garden programs, as well as many other activities to enrich your students experience at Bancroft.

There are many ways to make an impact and to be involved: volunteering in the classroom, leading Odyssey of the Mind, teaching an art class, raising money for school projects and being an active PFC member are all great ways to be involved in your child's education.

Make an impact…...

All parents and faculty are a part of the PFC and get to vote at the PFC meetings. By attending PFC meetings,  your voice will be heard. Your vote will count! In March we will be making budget decisions for 2018-2019 programming .

Be involved…….

We are looking for a treasurer for next school year, which is an important part of the PFC executive board.  We need to start the download and transition from the current treasurer as soon as possible to ensure continuity. There are many more PFC positions to fill for the 2018-2019 school year.... and WE WANT YOU! Please contact Sandra Heinen (sandragheinen@gmail.com)

These are all great ways you can help make Bancroft a better school for our children. Thank you to everyone for donating, volunteering and making Bancroft the wonderful school it is today and let us make tomorrow even better for our kids

Go Bobcats!

Sandra Heinen

President, Bancroft PFC

Totally 80's AUCTION

Tickets are now on sale for the "Totally 80's" school auction.  This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and was a sold out event last year!  Tickets are available now online at http://bancroftelementaryschool.schoolauction.net/bancrofttotally80sparty/   Single ticket $60, Couples $120. Ticket prices INCREASE on 3/1. Ticket prices include dinner, dancing/music, live and silent auction.  This adult only event is a great opportunity to mingle with other parents and Bancroft staff.  The auction traditionally raises between $25,000 and $35,000 which helps to fund many Bancroft programs.  Last year the funds were used to support instructional assistants, site techs and the garden program.  In addition to these items, we hope to earn money this year to go toward a new Bancroft monument sign at the front of the school. New this year will be the "heads or tails" raffle for a large cash prize at the event.   There will also be an online auction starting Saturday March 3 for those of you who are unable to attend the event.   We are still looking for vacation rentals/timeshares to auction off.  The Room Parents have been collecting donations to put together gift baskets to be auctioned off.  If you can help with a monetary donation, please contact your Room Parent.  If you are interested in making a general donation, or if you have questions, please contact co chairs Lianne  Bosko lianne.bosko@gmail.com or Suzanne Yahiro Leibowitz at asuzanneya@hotmail.com.  We will see you then!

As we work to enhance the garden and install a new outdoor classroom prior to Open House in April we are looking for volunteers. If you have experience with light construction, are a great DIY-er, or just want to lend a hand on the upcoming weekend workdays, please let us know by contacting Matt Gould at matthew.gould@unionbank.com. Sign-ups will also be posted on Konstella.

50th Anniversary Commemorative Wall - MAKE YOUR MARK!

Be remembered at Bancroft for years to come! A 50th Anniversary commemorative tile wall mural will be installed at the front entrance. Purchase your tile today and join us on one of three paint nights in March to add your mark to this everlasting project. See attached flier for additional details.  Sign-ups will be distributed shortly on Konstella.

Odyssey of the Mind

In January, ALL forty-two of our Bancroft Odyssey students attended a practice Odyssey tournament event, called Spontania Mania. In this practice event parent volunteers and coaches gave team members a wide variety of problem solving exercises. (see attached flier for photos and full details) The teams were asked to solve problems that ranged from building structures out of various materials given in an allotted time to collaborating and illustrating while telling a story with their teammates.

Please mark your calendars for Saturday March 3th to come watch and support our 7 Bancroft Odyssey of the Mind Teams compete for our school at SF Bay Odyssey of the Mind Regionals at Concord High School and El Dorado Middle, which is an International Problem Solving Team
If you would like to come and watch our teams perform and show them your support, then please look for a link for the tournament schedule we will post on Konstella.
