Spring Book Fair, April 16-19, Bancroft MUR
Mathletics, April 27
Our students are getting excited for Mathletics on April 27th! Join the fun during this important Academic Fundraiser where Bancroft students get the opportunity to showcase their math skills! The goal is for every student to do as many math stations as possible within the allotted time frame. Students will tackle the challenges at a variety of stations which have been created by classroom teachers to use and build on their knowledge in math concepts, critical thinking and perseverance. At the conclusion of the Mathletics competition, students will proudly present their accomplished tasks for pledge collections. Pledges can be made for a lump sum amount or for a certain amount per math station.
Watch for volunteer opportunities on Konstella as we will need several volunteers in each grade level to manage the stations. Not only is this a really fun event, but volunteers this year have an opportunity to win a prize for helping out…so stay tuned!
- April 9th – Pledge envelopes will be sent home so students can collect pledges
- April 20th – Pledge envelopes are due back to the school
- April 27th – Mathletics Competition Day!
- May 11th – Pledge envelopes and donations are due back to the school

Odyssey of the Mind - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Through some whacky weather and hail, on Saturday, March 3rd , 2018 Bancroft Elementary had all of our 7 teams compete at the SF Bay Odyssey of the Mind Regional Tournament. Despite the storms, our 7 team’s spirits were not dampened. That night, the gym at Concord High was packed for not just one, but three separate AWARD CEREMONIES. Over the last five months our teams have: worked hard, problem solved, built, decorated, collaborated, had stuff break, repairs to make, duct taped, brain stormed, disagreed, agreed, laughed, some cried (that the season was over), succeeded, failed, practiced, wrote their own scripts, made their own costumes, backdrops, props and some even made structures out of balsa wood, these teams focused, goofed off, learned and saw problems as an opportunity to try something different. In the end, our teams found the real “win” in doing Odyssey of the Mind is in the problem solving process and teamwork… not just shiny medals.
BIG THANK YOUS to our entire volunteer parent group of coaches and judges! Without you Bancroft would not be able to have Odyssey of the Mind at our school. A full article, including judges comments will posted shortly on our website: http://www.bancroftpfc.org/odyssey-of-the-mind.html
