Connecting our Community

Letter from our PFC President

Welcome Bobcat families to Bancroft Elementary’s 50th anniversary year!  Our school has come a long way in a half century, and there is so much more to come this year. We could not have done this without everyone’s help and continued support.

Thank you to all the Info Day volunteers and staff that worked many hours so parents did not have to stand in long lines.  The hospitality group did a phenomenal job welcoming parents back with coffee and a mountain of donuts. Thanks to Mari Mielcarski for working with the city of Walnut Creek to finally get a crossing guard to ensure the safety of our families.

There are so many exciting events to look forward to this school year. The Ice Cream Social, on September 15th, is a free event to enjoy ice cream and socialize with Bancroft families.  All of the kids love the Walk-a-thon, which is coming up on October 13th, to see who can walk the most laps.  Fall Fest has games, prizes and cake walk to enjoy. All the proceeds from Fall Fest go to funding the 5th grade Outdoor Ed. Fieldtrip.

All of the money we raise goes towards improvements to our school such as our gardening program, instructional assistants, and crossing guards. Thank you again for all the support in making Bancroft the best it can be!  I look forward to sharing this exciting year with you all!

Go Bobcats!

Dollar-A-Day Update

Thank you all for your generous support! Donations are still coming in and we are still tallying up the totals to share at the PFC meeting this Tuesday.

Room Parents Needed

We are still looking for Room Parents to help organize activities for our classrooms.  We do not have any volunteers for Mrs. Korsgaard or Mrs. Hicks’ classrooms but volunteers for any class are welcome to join the team.  The more the merrier!    It is a great way to get involved in your child’s education.  Duties include creating classroom volunteer sign ups on Konstella and communicating the needs of the teacher to the families.  It requires little/no time in the classroom and can easily be managed by working parents/guardians.  You will be guided through the process, no experience necessary.  If you would like to volunteer please contact Suzanne Leibowitz or refer to the Room Parent Group on Konstella for more information.

Spirit Wear

Every Friday is spirit wear day at Bancroft!

A spirit trophy rotates throughout the school year, and is held by the classroom with the most spirit. Help your classroom win by showing off your Bobcat pride!
2017-2018 Bancroft spirit wear in youth sizes has been created with a brand new design for this school year! Orders placed before 8/29 should be distributed to your classroom around 9/12. New orders placed by 9/26 for mid-October delivery using our order form

Please contact Tatiana Diaz, Spirit Wear Coordinator, with any questions.

New Families Program

Thanks to everyone who has participated in the Bancroft "Buddy" program this year.  We had a lot of incoming students and it was great to get to know some of them and their families during the to summer play dates.  If you are new to Bancroft and did not sign up to receive a returning buddy family, feel free to contact Samantha or Cara with any questions you might have.

Dine 2 Donate - September 13th

Please mark your calendar as our first Dine2Donate Fundraiser of the school year!

Black Bear Diner will donate 10% of ALL sales from ALL customers during this event; not just the Bancroft community, so tell your friends & neighbors.  Flyer is not needed at Black Bear.
Before or after dining at Black Bear, enjoy a delicious treat at Guanatos Ice Cream.  Please mention Bancroft or give them the flyer.  Please look for your flyer in your child's folder.  Extras are in the school office.

In addition, the BOGO at Jamba Juice is back for a limited time.  Get your card for $10 and you'll receive BOGO six times!  Please stop by the school office to buy yours today.
Thank you for your support!

Family Night - Makers Faire - October 6th

Makers Faire is a celebration of creativity, ingenuity, and resourcefulness! “It is the greatest show and tell on earth!” We are looking for student makers of all kinds: artists, authors, crafters, engineers, entertainers, and more! Please consider how you can show your creativity to attendees and if possible offer hands on demonstrations for participants. Please email Clair Boomer  and we would love to have you participate in our fun family night!

Walk-A-Thon - October 13th

Calling all Bobcats! Lace up your running shoes and get ready for the 8th annual Bancroft Walk-A-Thon! This fundraising event will take place on Friday October 13th and will include lots of fun music, snacks, event giveaways, and prizes for all students.
Parents, family members and friends are encouraged to participate as well, so mark your calendars and plan to come walk or run with your Bancroft student as we celebrate our theme “50 Years & Still RUNNING STRONG

New this year, we will be accepting pledges online, making it easier for friends and family to donate, even from far away!

Fall Fest - Save the Date -  October 28th, 2-5:30pm

The planning for our annual Fall Festival has begun! There will be games, food, music and fun!  We are still in need of a coordinator for games and volunteers and general help with the event.  If you are interested to join our crew email Julie Fustok or Ashley Foster. Our next meeting is on September 13th, 8:00a in the Bancroft Courtyard.
Auction - Save the Date - March 24th
Get your hair crimper and jelly shoes out and get ready for the 2018 Totally 80’s Auction Night.  This is Bancroft’s biggest fundraiser and will be held at Heather Farm Community Center on Saturday 3/24/18.  This adult only event is guaranteed to be a fun time for a worthy cause.  We have an amazing auction team of 16 members already and would love to recruit more help, particularly with soliciting donations, tech support and party planning.  See the Konstella Auction Group for more details or contact Lianne Bosko or Suzanne Leibowitz.  Be a part of the fun team that puts this event together, we would love to have you!

Box Tops for Education

Welcome back Bancroft families and to new families,
We hope you were saving your Box Tops over the summer! Please drop them off in an envelope/bag with your child's name and her/his teacher's name into the box for Box Tops in the office.
We will have a class celebration for the class that brings in the most each month.
Included here is an image of the Box Tops you should keep your eyes out for on the common products you are purchasing every day. If you are interested in learning more, feel free to reach out to your Box Tops coordinator, Alyson Ogden or go to this link.
This year we've also made collection sheets to help you track and save your box tops - click here.
