Letter from our PFC President

Dear Bobcat Families,

 Thank you for being partners in education at Bancroft, which only runs at its best with everyone’s support.  Here are a few highlights:

  • We raised $104K from Dollar-A-Day and Excellence in Education.
  • Parent Faculty Club (PFC) voted to increase Instructional Assistants(IA) budget from $100K to $120K allowing us to increase IAs’ time.
  • The first PFC meeting was very well-attended with record attendance.
  • We have installed the new bottle-filling station and drinking fountains in the courtyard where the children have lunch.  
  • There was great turnout for Family Playdates, Welcome Back Coffee, and Ice Cream Social to connect with our Bobcat families.
  • Thank you to all the Info Day, Welcome Back Coffee, Ice Cream Social, and in-class volunteers.  They work behind the scenes to make everyday a success at Bancroft.

 We still need your help in the following areas:

  • Please follow all Bancroft traffic regulations to ensure the safety of our children and relieve congestion.
  • Open PFC positions
    • VP of Fundraising
    • Auditor
    • Assistant Treasure
    • MDUSD's Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) rep
  • Contact Sandra Heinen for more info.
  • Join the Traffic Committee to problem-solve our traffic issues. Contact Sarah Rhodes for more info.
  • Join Strategic Funds Committee to assess and allocate funds for new Bancroft Strategic projects.  Contact Amiee Gordon for more info.
  • Join the monthly PFC Meeting where we problem-solve and make decisions for the Bancroft Community.  The last set of approved minutes are provided each month as an attachment to this newsletter, but there is a one month lag so coming to the meetings is the best way to stay up do date.
  • Please join and support our upcoming events.

All of us are a vital part of the Parent Faculty Club (PFC) and the Bancroft Community.

Thank you for all you have done thus far.  Our jobs have just begun. We are looking forward to a productive, fun, and safe school year.

Fundraising Update

Thank you all for your generous support at Info Day and as we start our new school year! The 2018-2019 PFC Projected Expenses are $204,000 so every dollar counts toward provide enriching activities and education support for our students.

Every Friday is spirit wear day at Bancroft!

A spirit trophy rotates throughout the school year, and is held each week by the classroom with the most spirit. Help your classroom win by showing off your Bobcat pride! Orders placed on Info Day and before 8/31 should be distributed to your classroom around 9/24-28. New orders placed by 10/5  for mid-October delivery will be 10/19 using our order form.  Thank you for your order and supporting Bancroft PFC. Family Night - Makers Faire - October 5th

Please join us on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 5-7pm  for hands on projects and demonstrations by our own student makers! This family night is a free event and open to all Bancroft families, hope to see you there!

Makers Faire is a celebration of creativity, ingenuity, and resourcefulness! “It is the greatest show and tell on earth!” We are looking for student makers of all kinds: artists, authors, crafters, engineers, entertainers, and more! Please consider how you can show your creativity to attendees and if possible offer hands on demonstrations for participants. Please email Clair Boomer  if you're interested in becoming a student "maker"!

Fall Fest - Save the Date -  October 20th, afternoon

The planning for our annual Fall Festival has begun! There will be games, food, music and fun!  We are still in need of a coordinator for games and volunteers and general help with the event.

Our first planning meeting will be Tuesday 9/18 at 7p in the Library.


COSTUME SWAP – October 5th, 2:45p-3:30p and 5p-6p




Walk-A-Thon - October 26th

Calling all Bobcats! Lace up your running shoes and get ready for the 9th annual Bancroft Walk-A-Thon! This fundraising event will take place on Friday October 26th and will include lots of fun music, snacks, event giveaways, and prizes for all students. Parents, family members and friends are encouraged to participate as well. Walk-A-Thon pledge envelopes, Additional information will be coming home soon in your child’s Friday or Monday folder. Questions? Want to help with the event? Contact Kristin Carrillo.

Box Tops for Education

We hope you were saving your Box Tops over the summer! Please drop them off in an envelope/bag with your child's name and her/his teacher's name into the box for Box Tops in the office. We will have a class celebration for the class that brings in the most each month. For questions, reach out to your Box Tops coordinator, Alyson Ogden or go to this link. This year we've also made collection sheets to help you track and save your box tops - click here.


Room Parent Update 

There is still time to sign up to be a room parent for the 2018-2019 school year.  You do not need to spend time in the classroom to be a room parent and it can easily be managed by working parents.  No fingerprinting required.  Sign ups are on Konstella or notify your teacher.  For more info email the head Room Parent coordinator Suzanne Yahiro Leibowitz. There will be a RP meeting on Monday 9/24 at 8am in the school library.



 Auction Update: 

Bancroft's biggest fundraiser, the annual auction and dinner dance will be held on Saturday March 23 at Heather Farm.  This year's theme is Heroes and Villians!  If you want to help plan this amazing event or if you have ideas or items to donate, please contact auction lead Suzanne Yahiro Leibowitz.  The first auction meeting will be held on Wed 10/17.
