Walk or Bike to School on October 4th!
Wed, Oct 4
Bancroft Elementary

On Wednesday, October 4th, Bancroft is celebrating Walk & Bike to School Day.

Please consider leaving your car at home to avoid being stuck in traffic while dropping off and picking up your Bobcats. It’s healthy, can be cleaner for the environment and it will give you additional time with your kids outdoors, going on a little adventure together. You’re bound to see others in our community doing the same thing.

We know some of our students are coming quite a distance to get to Bancroft each day. If you can’t walk or bike the whole way, consider parking at Heather Farm near Field 6 or the commuter lot in Shadelands. Doing a little will do a lot of good!

If you’re biking...

We ask that you take the Contra Costa Canal Trail that runs parallel to Parrish. Please enter the school near Dianne Adair at the gate nearest the Safeway shopping center.

If you’re walking...

We ask that you either take Parrish or arrive via the Canal Trail entrance nearest the teacher’s parking lot.

If you do end up driving...

Please be extremely careful and keep a lookout for students and parents also using the road on foot or on bike. Many of them are likely doing this for the first time. Give them extra space and make eye contact. We need your help to ensure that everyone is safe and able to enjoy this event.

Looking forward to a fun & safe celebration of Walk & Bike to School 2023!

Beyond October 4th…

Each student is receiving a Frequent Walker / Biker Card. Please initial and date each day that your student walks, bikes or rolls to school. When your student completes 20 days over the course of the school year, please message Ruth Rossimov on Konstella with a picture of your student’s completed card to be entered to win raffle prizes from local biking businesses.
