Volunteering for a PTA role is a great way to make a big impact and stay connected to the school.  The work of the PTA is critical to so much of what make Barron Park Elementary great.  Only parents with executive board roles are required to attend a monthly board meeting which is typically a Friday morning from 8:30 -9:30am.

President Signed Up: 1 / 1

Preside at all meetings of the Executive board and general membership, prepare PTA Exec Board meeting agenda. Coordinate the work of officers and committees of the PTA, and executive board and assist as needed; be the official representative at council and district meetings; serve as member of school budget committee and present PTA budget to the association; meet bimonthly with the school principal and site council chairs. 3-10 hours per month.

Attend monthly PTA Executive Board meeting. Assist the president. 3 hours per month.

VP Fundraising Signed Up: 1 / 1

Attend monthly PTA Executive Board meeting. Evaluate fund raising strategy and fund raising options to meet fundraising goals. Recruit committee chairs and organize fundraising activities (mainly the Fall Fundraising Drive and Annual Auction Fundraiser.) 3 hours per month + 50 hours for auction event

VP Communications Signed Up: 2 / 2

Attend monthly PTA Executive Board meeting. Oversee Yearbook editor, eNews, Webmaster for school and PTA and Konstella operations. Assist eNews with any issues and manage PTA contributions to the website. Identify ways to better circulate and distribute information school-wide and ensure PTA’s needs are being met by Buzz, eNews and Website and Konstella. 2-6 hours per month

VP Community Events Signed Up: 1 / 2

Attend monthly PTA Executive Board meeting. Lead community event planning and recruit and support each event committee chair. Community events in the past have included the heritage potluck, family disco night, PJ parties, etc. 3-5 hours per month.

Treasurer Signed Up: 1 / 1

Help prepare budget, keep accurate records of income and expenditures. Maintain PTA bank accounts and write checks to cover expenses. Present financial reports at PTA and Executive Board meetings. Follow local and national PTA guidelines and procedures; prepare the annual income tax filing for the school.

Secretary Signed Up: 1 / 1

Attend monthly PTA Executive Board meeting. Record and prepare minutes and distribute minutes prior to the meeting at which they are to be reviewed. Keep copies of PTA meeting minutes and treasurer’s reports. Record minutes from general membership meetings and coordinate production and distribution of back to school packet. 2.5 hours per month.

Parlimentarian Signed Up: 1 / 1

Attend executive board and PTA meetings and give necessary advice on parliamentary procedure when requested. Recruit Nominating Committee members with assistance from the President. Call the first meeting of the nominating committee. Chair bylaws committee and review bylaws and standing rules every two years. Attend PTA Council general meetings (6 times a year.)

Historian Signed Up: 1 / 1

The historian assembles and preserves the record of activities and achievements of the PTA, and assists the president in preparing the Annual Report. Attends Executive Board meetings each month.

Auditor Signed Up: 1 / 1

Audit books and records of Barron Park PTA to ensure accuracy and completeness. Review all transactions, bank statements, and ledger.

After School Activities Coordinator Signed Up: 1 / 2

Organize vendors, schedule, and registration for after school activities in collaboration with the school secretary. Collaborate wth the school secretary to run the PTA funded after school scholarship program. Training provided by outgoing parent.

Auction Committee Signed Up: 1 / 10

Support the VP School Fundraising to organize the event, solicit donations, and coordinate volunteers for our annual auction and dinner fundraiser held each March. Training provided.

Book Fair Coordinator Signed Up: 1 / 2

Coordinate event and organize volunteers for our week-long Scholastic book faire held each November. 40 hours total.

CAC Inclusion Rep Signed Up: 1 / 2

Organize two parent/principal coffees for parents of children with IEPs and 504s. There is also an option to organize events for students on Inclusive Schools Week, Unity Day, and/or Autism Awareness week.

Financial Secretary Signed Up: 1 / 1

Record and deposit all PTA donations and issue receipts.1.5 hours per month. 1-2 meetings per year. Training provided by outgoing parent.

E-News Editor Signed Up: 2 / 3

Collect eNews announcements and format for our weekly newsletter. Edit where needed. We currently use Constant Contact. 2 hours per week. The weeks are split evenly between all news editors. Training provided by outgoing parents.

Health and Wellness Representative Signed Up: 1 / 1

Foster a culture of health throughout the school. A few meetings with the Palo Alto PTA Council throughout the year are required. 2-10 hours per year depending on what activities/events you decide to put on.

Hospitality Coordinator Signed Up: 1 / 3

Order, organize delivery of, food per PTA budget for staff first day lunch, BTS night staff dinner, staff appreciation lunch and coffee, principal coffees, PTA welcome coffee. 15 hours total spread over the school year.

Konstella Administrator Signed Up: 0 / 1

Conduct initial data import at the beginning of the year and add/delete new families throughout the year. 5 hours for beginning of the year, 1.5 hours pr month there after. Training provided by outgoing parent.

Library Volunteer Coordinator Signed Up: 1 / 1

Volunteer in the library and help our librarian schedule and coordinate with classroom parent volunteers. 5 hours per month.

PiE Chair Signed Up: 2 / 2

Oversee fundraising efforts at our school site as directed by PiE. 20 total hours over the school year.

Safe-Routes-to-School Representative Signed Up: 1 / 2

Act as the Safe-Routes-To-School rep and communicate issues to the city and district and best practices to parents. 1 hour per month on average.

Check the school calendar and change out the marquee at the front of the school on a monthly basis. 1.5 hours per month.

Social Media Coordinator Signed Up: 1 / 1

Periodically post to the BP's social media accounts with photos and reminders. Training provided by outgoing parent.

Webmaster Signed Up: 1 / 1

Maintain Barron Park's school and PTA websites. Both our sites are hosted in Wordpress.

Yearbook Editor Signed Up: 1 / 2

Oversee all and manage all aspects of the yearbook creation & sales. Training provided by outgoing editor.
