 Staff Appreciation Week

Help celebrate our amazing staff at Barron Park  next week, May 6th-10th. Be sure to check messages from your room parents on Konstella or via our messages from Parent Square to learn more about how you can participate. We look forward to making our staff feel even more appreciated this week!

PTA General Meeting and Principals Coffee (Exec Board Slate for 2024-25)

Don't forget to join us for Principal's Coffee and PTA general meeting on May 14 at 8:25 in the MP room. This is a great opporunity to get an end of year update from principal Judy, and hear more from the PTA about the upcoming year. During this time the Barron Park Elementary PTA will present the 2024-25 school year exec board slate (below). We look forward to seeing you there!

Calling all parents!  Volunteer at Barron Park Elementary and the PTA

Barron Park Elementary needs your help! Students and teachers benefit from your involvement at school. We have many open volunteer positions from helping with school events, shelving books in the library, yearbook committee - we even have positions that you can do from home! E-mail the PTA and join the fun, rewarding experience of helping the community by volunteering at Barron Park Elementary!

THANK YOU CORNER
The Thank You Corner is a place to publicly say thanks to the wonderful volunteers who help out at our school. If you have a suggestion of someone to thank, please send it to the eNews Editors. Thanks for all that you do!

Green Tip: Keep Celebrating Earth Month!

Earth Day is over, but we can continue to celebrate and support our planet Earth:

  • Our city’s local events and Earth Day activities or fairs are continuing throughout the year - get involved and consider making an ongoing or longer-term commitment.
  • Keep walking and rolling - how many car trips can you cut down? Try pooling trips, bike/walk/take public transit, or use an app like RouteXL to find an efficient route.
  • Continue to visit the Earth Week Activity Center https://bit.ly/ewac2024 with games and activities, and learn more.
  • Follow up on an Earth Pledge and take action (it's not too late to make a pledge if you haven't!)
  • Keep spending time outdoors, make small steady changes, and reusable party packs for events (and reusables in your life).

The Earth is here for us every single day, we can be here for our world, too. https://www.cityofpaloalto.org/City-Hall/Sustainability/Planet-Protection-Pledge

Palo Alto Community

Volunteer Opportunity for Parents (as little as 1 hour per week)

Did you know that we live right next door to a school district where:

  • 88% of students come from socioeconomically disadvantaged households?
  • 46% of students are housing insecure?
  • 44% of students are more 3 grade levels below their current grade in Reading and Math?

Come to our information session on May 8th to learn how you can help tutor these students during the school day. Information here: https://www.ravenswoodclassroompartners.org/. RSVP via email to cristiana@ravenswoodclassroompartners.org. To see the impact from a current teacher's perspective, watch this 3-minute video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjPgulUmanA
