Green Tip: Global Gratitude NEW This Thanksgiving, consider the planet: Instead of Black Friday, celebrate Buy Nothing Day or Opt Outdoors. On Giving Tuesday (11/28) consider donating to organizations you believe in (maybe environmental ones!) Reuse decorations, using a reusable city party pack for events. Avoid the 300 million pounds of wasted food by planning ahead, reusing leftovers, and feeding the unhoused. Consider the history of Thanksgiving, give thanks for ancestors who cared for this land, and make up your own pledge. Show gratitude to non-human friends with bird feeders and fresh water left out for animals, and save heirloom seeds to plant. https://www.evebratman.com/2020-update-10-more-ways-to-make-your-thanksgiving-about-social-and-environmental-justice/
Get Involved! We Are Recruiting New Green Team Representatives at Every School. If you are interested in getting involved as a parent volunteer, consider being the Green Team rep. The Green Team rep shares tips from our school district on sustainability, engages students in activities, and is a member of the PTAC Green Team. Takes only 1-2 hours per month and can be shared with another parent. You will be a member of the PAUSD/PTAC community and get all the guidance/resources you need. Volunteering gives you the opportunity to: connect with teachers and administration & connect with parents throughout PAUSD Make an IMPACT! Email greenteam@paloaltopta.org
Parent Education Series with Pacific Clinic Pacific Clinics will be offering a series of presentations for caregivers. Caregivers can attend all the sessions or choose which ones they attend. There are a total of 90 minutes, the last 30 minutes being left for Q&A session. Caregivers will be given a guide on each topic to take home and reference later!

Keep our Communities Safe from Gun Violence: It's the Law! California, Santa Clara County, and Palo Alto all require that if you have firearms in your home, they must be stored safely. Safe storage is when a firearm is in a locked container or disabled with a trigger lock. For more information, visit besmartforkids.org.

Palo Alto Community | ||
Help make Palo Alto a Safer and More Active Community! The City recently initiated two critical transportation planning efforts: a 2-year effort called Active Palo Alto (https://www.cityofpaloalto.org/activepaloalto) to update the 2012 Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation Plan, and Safer Palo Alto (https://www.cityofpaloalto.org/Departments/Transportation/Transportation-Projects/Safety-Action-Plan), a 15-month effort to create a road safety plan using the federally-endorsed Safe System Approach (https://www.transportation.gov/NRSS/SafeSystem). Share your input on roadway changes on this interactive map (https://maps.kittelson.com/ActivePaloAlto) through the end of November 2023. There is also an online road safety survey (https://us.openforms.com/Form/bcf22ced-de35-49eb-9048-0880a20d7de3) to understand transportation safety preferences in the community. Community responses will inform the City Council about what residents want to see on our streets. Once these two planning documents are finalized and adopted, a list of prioritized projects will be outlined for which staff will seek funding to implement. |
