Golden Sneaker Week
Golden Sneaker CONTEST

March 2–13

The Golden Sneaker Contest is an Alameda County Safe Routes to School program encouraging students to walk and roll to school. We encourage everyone to walk and roll during these two weeks. 

Live farther away? Drive part of the way, park, and walk the rest to count.

We’re making a short video highlighting Bay Farm families who walk and roll to school.

Filming is quick and will take place on Feb 18, 19, 20, 26, or 27.

Thank-You Collage for the City

With the Aughinbaugh paving project nearing completion, we’re creating a collage of photos and thank-you notes from Bay Farm families to present to City staff on Monday, March 9 at morning ceremony.

Please submit photos, images of drawings, and notes by Wednesday, March 4!

Golden Sneaker Bike Bus

Join us in celebrating the completion of Aughinbaugh's protected bike lanes by riding to school with us!

Come to the Mecartney Fire Station at 7:45 AM. We’ll leave at 7:55 AM to ride to school together.

A joyful morning of creativity, confidence, and community spirit. Families are warmly welcome to attend.

  • Talent Show: Students only, up to 3 minutes (solo or group)
  • Art Fair: All students welcome – any medium (label with name & class)

Deadline to submit: Thursday, Feb 26

Free Easy Street Cycling Class

Monday, April 6 • 6:30–8:00 PM • Bay Farm School MPR

A fun and informative class (videos, slides, and discussion) covering common crash avoidance, bike laws, riding comfort, and theft prevention.

  • No bikes required (classroom setting)
  • Great info for teens learning to drive, too

Final Read-A-Thon Reminders

If all pledges arrive, we will have met our above and beyond goal of $60,000 and will celebrate with an all school reading celebration! Way to go Bay Farm!

  • Per-minute pledges were invoiced today. Please follow up with donors so they know to look for the email from PledgeStar and to finalize the donation.
  • Checks: All checks must be received in the office by Monday, Feb. 23 to count for prizes.
  • Matching Donations: If you have outstanding employer matches and have received employer confirmation, please forward that to read-a-thon@bayfarmptsa.org to have it count for prizes.

Winners announced at the morning ceremony on Monday, March 2!

Safety Reminder for Cyclists

Cyclists are required to stop at the new all-way stops on Kofman, Sea View, and Robert Davey. These stops help ensure people can cross safely.
