ACTION NEEDED

Speak Up for Student Safety TODAY!

This is a follow-up and final reminder to sign the street safety support letter today so it can be shared with City Council. The PTSA and school have worked with the City on proven safety improvements around Bay Farm so our kids can get to school safely, but recent complaints are causing some of those changes to be rolled back. If you believe student safety should come before vehicle throughput, please sign today.

Thank you for supporting safer streets for our kids and our community!

Tillman Park RAP Program Update

The Alameda Recreation & Parks Department after-school program at Tillman Park is currently under-enrolled, and ARPD has indicated the Winter session at that site may be canceled if enrollment does not increase. Families who intend to register but have not yet done so should enroll as soon as possible.

ARPD has also shared that they may explore consolidating the program at Leydecker Park, which could include staff walking students there after school.

Questions about the program or enrollment should be directed to ARPD at cbailey@alamedaca.gov .

Help Wanted: VP of Membership

We are looking for a new VP of Membership, as our membership chair recently moved. Most of the work is already set up for this year, but we would love someone who can attend meetings, get to know the process, and be in a strong position to lead this work next year.

Contact us as soon as possible to learn more about the role, expectations, and share your vision for the PTSA.

📚 Read-a-thon Is Almost Here!

Read-a-thon is one of our most successful fundraisers of the year, and we’re excited to make this year even more impactful than last. The Read-a-thon will run February 2 to 13.

Students earn rewards for reading, and there will be fun prizes along the way. Registration opens in January, and pledges can start as soon as students are registered. Kids can start practicing their pitch to family and friends now.

More details coming soon!

Safety Reminders

As we head into the rainy season, pavement markings and final street changes may be delayed. That does not mean everyone needs to drive to school.

Kids walking to school in the rain

☔️ Dancing and Singing in the Rain to School

We strongly encourage families to make walking, biking, or scooting part of their day whenever possible. It helps reduce congestion, keeps kids moving, and can be a fun way to get extra energy out before school. Consider packing an extra pair of shoes or clothes on rainy days, just in case.

🚫 No Parking in the Loop

Please do not park in the loop, even for a minute. Stopping vehicles quickly causes major backups and makes drop-off less safe for everyone. If you need to park, find a legal space and walk your student onto campus.

🗣️ Speak Up for Safety

If you see something unsafe, please say something. Many issues come from people not realizing the impact of their actions. A quick, friendly reminder can help keep everyone moving safely.

Reminders

  • Lost and Found
    • Check Lost & Found outside the main office — it’s bursting with jackets and water bottles. Items will be donated soon if not claimed!
