🚗 AUGHINBAUGH CHANGES

You may have noticed new markings appearing along Aughinbaugh — exciting progress toward safer streets around our school! The bike lane and parking configuration have changed to make it safer for students walking and biking to school.

Parking-protected bike lanes

The new design places the bike lane next to the sidewalk, with parked cars acting as a protective barrier between cyclists and moving traffic. This helps children and families bike safely without being exposed to passing vehicles.

Street-level configuration changes

Car travel lanes are narrower, and U-turns are now impossible. These changes are designed to slow traffic and prevent unsafe maneuvers, creating a calmer environment for drop-off, pickup, and daily walking and biking routes.

Drop-Off Loop Reminder

With these changes on Aughinbaugh, we anticipate more families will use the school’s front drop-off loop. Please remember that this area is for active drop-offs only — not for parking or leaving your vehicle unattended.

If you park and get out of your car in the drop-off lane, you’re blocking classmates, making neighbors late for work, and adding to unsafe congestion in front of the school. We can all do better. Use the loop only for quick, active drop-off.

Community Resource: FOOD availability

AUSD Food Availability
School meals will still be available even if SNAP is delayed. As a reminder:

  • All students in AUSD can get one free breakfast and one free lunch per day at their schools.
  • Students who miss the breakfast served before school can get a “second chance” breakfast during their first recess.
  • All school cafeterias offer “share tables” during lunch where children can pick up unopened school meal items that other students didn’t eat to snack on or bring home.
  • Students in our ELOP afterschool program receive either a dinner or a snack every day.

Bay Farm families have reached out to Ms. Rahima to think about ways to support families in need. Because of this kindness, we have created a form to match families who need support with families who can offer support. Whether you need support or can offer support, please fill out this form. We will reach out to you with next steps. Also, please free to share this link with anyone you know who may need/can offer support.
