Why Bay Farm Needs Community Support
Mon, Oct 13 8:50am

Hello Bay Farm Families,

Since last Friday, we’ve received 9 additional donations, bringing us to 34% of our $50,000 goal. Thank you to everyone who has contributed or helped spread the word!

Many families are surprised to learn why community donations are so essential for our school. The reality is, California’s public school funding system leaves many essential needs unmet. Proposition 13 limits how much property tax revenue can grow each year, and district budgets can’t keep pace with rising costs. As a result, California now ranks near the bottom nationally in per-student funding, and schools like ours rely on community support to sustain the quality of education families expect.

That’s where the PTSA comes in. We fund programs the district can’t, including reading and math support, classroom enrichment, assemblies, and the Environmental Science and Garden program. These are not extras; they’re what make Bay Farm a well-supported, engaging, and inclusive place for every student to learn and thrive. Every contribution makes a difference, and together we can ensure all our students continue to benefit from these opportunities.

Thank you for being part of what makes Bay Farm such a special community.

Warmly,
Maria Piper
