Sat, Nov 23 4:11pm

The following are the highlights from our November 6th meeting.

Volunteer Opportunities

Kindergarten Resources Co-Lead is still an unfilled position, requires helping with January Information Night and hosting one or two popsicle parties for incoming Kindergartners and families in the summer.

Street Safety letter to City Council

Alameda recently made the news for so many children being hit in the pedestrian crosswalk. Claire proposed sending a letter penned by the PTSA Street Safety Committee to City Council. The letter is available to all families in our PTSA Box, a link to the letter: . A motion was made and passed to send the letter.

Parcel Tax

AUSD is getting ready for a parcel tax, March 3rd is the primary election. Our PTSA was asked to find a school captain to coordinate volunteers to walk and ring doorbells, we can have more than one school captain. The parcel tax will be used to raise salaries enabling retention of quality teachers at AUSD schools. We have been asked for a monetary donation to this campaign from our PTSA for printing out fliers, doorhangers, relational work, advertising money etc. We will be learning more about this Parcel Tax as well as voting on whether we should endorse/financial help this campaign at the December 4th meeting.

Mini Grants

Mini grants are in and we will vote for the grants at our December meetings. We got 8 Mini Grant proposals: Book Vending Machine for rewards, special spirit wear for prizes, redoing the ⅔ coatroom where Read Naturally takes place, middle school beautification, traffic signs, diversity books, long jump pit and runway, and school wide flyers launch
