Education Funding Proposition on March 3rd Ballot
2020 is a crucial year for public education in California, and the first opportunity to improve education funding is coming up soon on the March 3, 2020 ballot. Please look for this proposition: The Public Preschool, K-12, and College Health and Safety Bond Act of 2020 (also known as Proposition 13 of 2020). If passed by a simple majority of voters, it will raise $9 billion for K-12 and $2 billion for each of California's college systems (UC, CSU, Community Colleges) to construct and modernize school facilities. It is a school facilities bond measure and does not affect your local property taxes.
Note: This bond measure is UNRELATED to Prop. 13 of 1978 and also UNRELATED to the “split-roll” initiative to revise Prop. 13 of 1978 for corporations on the November 2020 ballot.
The California State PTA strongly encourages you to vote for this bond measure in March. Click here to read more about it on the CAPTA website – you'll find a summary of the measure and links to useful documents, including the full text of the measure and the California State PTA Study Committee Report. If you are a registered voter, your ballots should be mailed to you by the third week of February. Please check the mail for your ballot and remember to vote YES on Proposition 13 in 2020! See attached FAQ to learn more.
