Thank you to the forty people who attended today’s PTSA meeting!
Here’s a brief recap of some highlights:
The Walk-a-Jog is in less than one month: Friday, Sept. 15th. Chairperson Isabelle LaFrance encouraged families to help find sponsors for the event and to signup to help at the event. Also, we’ll have a meeting this Friday, August 18th at 8am in the Staff Lounge to discuss plans for this super fun, community event – join us if you can.
Sue Aquipel reminded parents about the importance of becoming PTSA members and displayed the stylish Bayside Car Magnet that comes free! with membership.
The General Assembly reviewed and approved the PTSA budget and calendar for this year and released funds so that we can begin funding key Bayside programs.
Bayside Logowear (T-shirts & sweatshirts) is in the works for STEAM and STEM and we hope to have it ready to sell at the Walk-a-Jog.
Ena Martinez, ELAC representative, and Joyce Vaenuku, Pacific Islander Liaison, both spoke about efforts to reach-out to all Bayside families as we build our community – a key goal for the PTSA this year.
Diana Chu has kindly stepped up to assist in organizing Clubs for the 6th-8th grade and we hope to get you more information about this in September.
Colleen Carter, interim Athletic Director/Bayside parent, shared updates about 6th-8th sports. There will be Cross-Country, Girls Volleyball and Football in the Fall and she encouraged all kids to consider trying out for sports. We are in need of a Football Coach: contact Colleen via Konstella if you’re interested in helping to coach Football.
Principal Cosmos, Vice Principal Valencia and Vice Principal Gurka all attended the meeting and answered questions throughout. They thanked parents for their patience as we adjust to all the changes at the school and Principal Cosmos reiterated that they are open to suggestions about how to make things better.
We covered more but I promised to keep this brief. We hope to have a binder in the Bayside Office soon that will include PTSA minutes, budget and financial reports in case you want to find out more.
Our next PTSA meeting will be on September 6th at 7pm and will feature a talk about Social Media & Technology and its effect on kids. Hope to see you there!
