WALKATHON ROUND-UP! 

The 2025 Walkathon "Louie's Jungle Cruise" is happening on Saturday, October 18! There are so many ways to support and get involved with Walkathon – and we need your help! 

🌿 Collect Pledges
Students help fundraise by collecting pledges from family, friends and neighbors. Pledgestar is live!! This is our online pledge tool which allows you to send email and text requests for donations. Did you know that BESCA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (Tax ID #23-7399164) and donations are tax-deductible? To help us reach our goal, we aim for a donation of $500 per student through the Walkathon Pledge platform but every gift, in any amount, makes a difference. Every class that reaches 80% participation (sign up for Pledgestar and send 1 pledge request) by THIS Wednesday 9/24 will earn a popsicle party!  

📢 Donate to the Silent Auction
Extended deadline to turn in auction donations: Monday, October 6!  In order to make our auction successful, we need your help!  Please consider supporting us by donating personally or asking friends, family, or contacts you have at local businesses for donations. BESCA is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization and donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law. 

⭐️ Host a "Fun with Friends" Activity
We need more hosts! Deadline to sign up as a host is Monday, October 6!  Plan an activity or party, pick the date & time, and determine the price per guest. During the Walkathon Silent Auction, friends old & new can buy a ticket to attend your event! You (and optional co-hosts) host your event and all proceeds go to BESCA. These small events are one of the most fun ways to support our school!

🎟 Enter the "Teacher Fun Drawing"
The Teacher Fun Drawing (TFD) gives students the chance to win a fun and unique experience with their grade-level teachers or Principal Tan and Vice Principal Hsieh.  Families can buy one or more entries to this raffle style drawing. Due to state laws around nonprofit raffles, tickets cannot be sold online and can only be purchased via order form or in-person (cash or check).

👕Purchase Walkathon Shirts for the Family
You may have seen school staff and our walkathon leads sporting the 2025 Walkathon shirt - now join in the fun and support our Walkathon by purchasing t-shirts for the whole family! This green crewneck cotton shirt has a custom Booksin 2025 Walkathon “Louie’s Jungle Cruise” design designed by Bookisn parent, Dan Cooper. Deadline to order a shirt or to change your child’s default Walkathon shirt size is this Friday, September 26th. Remember: Booksin students DO NOT need to order a t-shirt. Every student will receive a free t-shirt as part of their participation in Walkathon, so no need to purchase.  T-shirts will be sent home with the designated student the week of October 13th 2025.
 
We hope your entire family will join the Booksin community at the Walkathon, so we offer a Junior & Alumni walker pass so that younger and older siblings of current Booksin students can participate!  
Purchase a Junior/Alumni Walker Pass and T-shirt Bundle for $45, or purchase the pass alone for $25. You may also sign up on the day of the event at the registration desk.  For more information, look for the flyer coming home this week!

💲Corporate Matching
Have you submitted your donation or pledge to Corporate Match yet?  Make sure to do so when you pledge in Pledgestar. You can double, or even triple your contribution by submitting for Corporate Match with your employer. Not sure where to start?  Your HR representative can provide the process.  To see if your company donates, please use this link. Once you submit for the Corporate Match with your employer, they do the rest. Did you already pledge?  You can still submit your receipt to your Corporate Match program.
